Carly Pearce's condiment calamity, Blake Shelton tries (and fails) to convince us he's king of the musical castle | Music City Minute
Carly Pearce had to be rushed to the ER after she was accosted by a bottle of ranch dressing. Pearce candidly explained how the bottle broke mid-pour, resulting in a nasty gash. Even though she tried to play in down, EMS concluded wound required stitches and urged the Opry member to be transported in an ambulance. Unfortunately, Carly learned too late she would be secured to the stretcher the entire trip. The "Truck on Fire" singer admits being strapped down was more embarrassing than the circumstances leading to her injury. Despite temporarily losing the use of her right thumb, she hilariously manages to navigate everyday tasks with grace.
I find it fascinating when artists talk about their personal music choices. According to Blake Shelton, there is only one artist filling the speakers at his house, and it is not his wife. Shelton insists he cranks all of his music, all the time. Considering the "Ole Red" singer has a hard time being serious about anything, it is safe to assume a few of his songs are on the family playlist. However, I don’t think Gwen Stefani and her kids could handle that much Blake...considering they already have to live with him.

Ashley McBryde's silent era, '9-1-1' Nashville reveals cast | Music City Minute
If you happen to be out and about and run into Ashely McBryde, please don’t be offended if she doesn’t talk to you. The "One Night Standers" singer isn't being standoffish, she’s actually on strict vocal rest. While the singer didn’t get into specifics, she did reveal the diagnosis was "busted up vocal cords." Since McBryde's regular form of communication is currently hindered, for now she is using notes and American sign language to express herself.

This October, ABC will be premiering at the latest installment of the popular show "9-1-1" with the new season based in Nashville. The principal cast is made up of Kimberly Williams-Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, Chris, O’Donnell and a major cameo right out of the gate. Kicking the show off a bang, Kane Brown will be featured as a heroic character with a major storyline in the first episode! With this new season based in Nashville, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw more country music cameos.

Kelly Clarkson receives devastating news, takes time off to support family | Music City Minute
Kelly Clarkson shocked fans when she postponed all of her Las Vegas residency performances for the rest of August. A statement posted to Clarkson's social media pages noted the reason for the last-minute postponement was a family emergency. Just hours later, it would be revealed that the talk show host's ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, had passed away. A family representative confirmed the former talent manager had succumbed to cancer after a tough three-year battle. The 48-year-old spent his last peaceful moments surrounded by family. Blackstock and the "American Idol" alum share two children together, 11-year-old River and 9-year-old Remi. Clarkson, who is normally very tight lipped about her personal life, did mention Brandan’s illness had weighed heavily on the family, especially the children, and right now, she needs to be fully present for them. We are sending peace and love as relatives and friends navigate this difficult transition.

Ingrid Andress reveals powerful new ability | Music City Minute
If you think Oracles and divining the future is a bunch of hooey, one young artist might change your opinion. Our Colorado homegirl Ingrid Andress has been immersing herself in writing and recording new music. That intense focus seems to have been the key that helped Andress open a universal pathway to receive divine knowledge. The "Wishful Drinking" singer set the internet on fire when she shared the names of two of her new songs, "Coldplay" and "Blue Genes," spelled, G-E-N-E-S. For context, you might’ve heard the chatter about the #KissCam-Coldplay incident and the Sydney Sweeney jeans ad campaign. Before you write this off and assume Andress is trying to ride on the coat tails of viral stories, here is the biggest twist: she wrote and recorded those songs before the events happened. And, she posted the receipts on social media as proof! That compelling evidence has turned me into a believer...how about you?

Ashley McBryde to introduce unique option for Broadway patrons | Music City Minute
Ashley McBryde is ready to make her mark on the Honky-Tonk Highway in Nashville with a venue that will offer a refreshing spin on the notoriously rowdy strip. McBryde, who is three years sober, is gearing up to open Redemption Bar, which will be located on the fifth floor of Eric Church's Chiefs on Broadway. The "Brenda Put Your Bra On" singer described the venue as a comfortable space where alcohol isn’t the first priority. The Arkansas artist was inspired after realizing some of her favorite places to socialize became “wildly unaccommodating" when the only thing that changed was her drink order. Even though Redemption Bar will have a few alcoholic options, the menu will mostly consist of zero-proof drinks that aren’t just soda water and lime. The club will host regular live performances and be home to artifacts and curios highlighting the Opry member's career. Redemption Bar is scheduled to open on August 28.

Jelly Roll plans medical procedure and celebrates gains in and out of gym | Music City Minute
Within the next year, Jelly Roll will be undergoing major surgery to help improve his quality of life. The "Need a Favor" singer explained that his healthier lifestyle has helped them achieve major weight loss and, as a result, he now has loose skin that actually interferes with his daily functions. Jelly Roll admits another benefit of the skin removal surgery will be the added confidence to pose shirtless on the cover of "Men’s Health" magazine in 2027. Until then, the country rocker is relishing in the fact that he will soon be under 300 pounds for the first time since middle school. In a couple of weeks, Jelly Roll will be able to flex some of that confidence as one of the honorees at the 18th annual Academy of Country Music Honors. Eric Church, Luke Combs, Randy Travis, Cody Johnson and Lainey Wilson are also among this year's class of artists who will be recognized for their contributions to country music.

Country music icon's ultimate compliment, Kelly Clarkson's kids steal the show | Music City Minute
Shania Twain has inspired and entertained generations of fans. One of the best examples of her influence was shared with her audience in Jacksonville, Florida. The "Any Man of Mine" singer stopped for performance and invited two fans on stage after their sign caught her attention. The couple explained that country icon meant so much to them, that they named their baby daughter after her. The interaction was posted to Twain's social media pages with a gushing caption about how special it was to meet the couple.

Last weekend, Kelly Clarkson surprised her residency audience with two very special guests. The singer and daytime talk show host invited her kids, River and Remi, onto the Caesars Palace stage for a family rendition of "Since You’ve Been Gone." Not only did Clarkson's kids sing the hit song word for word, they also inspired a giant dance party.

Country and Rock 'n' Roll legends to take the stage at Farm Aid, 'The King' raises millions for Texas flood relief | Music City Minute
One of the longest running charity events in the U.S. is celebrating a big milestone. Organizers for the legendary Farm Aid concert are gearing up for a 40th anniversary bash at the Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, September 20. Musical icons such as Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Wynonna Judd, Steve Earle, Kenny Chesney and the daddy of Farm Aid, Willie Nelson, will be taking the stage in an effort to raise funds to advocate and support family farms across the country.

Another high-profile charity event raised over $6 million for Texas flood relief. George Strait's Strait to the Heart benefit concert featured performances from Wade Bowen, Randy Hauser, Riley Green and Jamie Johnson. One of the biggest surprises of the night was when "The King" invited Garth Brooks out on stage and together they performed "The Fireman."

Hillary Scott expands family, Cody Johnson shares how he found out wife was expecting | Music City Minute
A huge congratulations to Hillary Scott of Lady A and her husband, Chris Tyrrell, who welcomed their fourth baby July 25. The ecstatic couple shared the news via "People" magazine with a little help from their older daughters Eisele, Betsy and Emory. Mom and Dad chose the name, Selah, for the bundle of joy, explaining the name means "pause and reflect" and "God is gracious."

In other baby news, Cody Johnson opened up about how his wife Brandi broke the news that she was pregnant. Johnson explained that one day after his wife returned from running errands, she asked him to help her unload the truck. "The Painter" singer was thoroughly confused when all he saw was a tiny box. Brandi said there was one more thing she needed him to grab and handed a positive pregnancy test. After Johnson’s initial shock wore off, Mom and Dad couldn't wait to tell their older girls they have a baby brother who would be arriving in early fall.

Country legend's widow 'let the wrong one in' and now missing millions of dollars | Music City Minute
When I hear about folks taking advantage of the elderly and vulnerable, it makes my blood boil, and this story is no different. Nancy Jones, the widow of George Jones, was scammed out of millions of dollars in cash and cryptocurrency. Not only that, the perpetrator wasn’t just some faceless stranger on the internet. The theft was committed by a man named Kirk West, who had been in a longterm relationship with Nancy since her husband passed. The country crooner's widow had become suspicious of West's activities, initially thinking that he had been sneaking around with someone else. She recruited her granddaughter to help investigate, and the women discovered a personal safe had been emptied. Officers from the Franklin, Tennessee, Police Department were able to catch up with the 58-year-old criminal at the Nashville International Airport and placed him under arrest. Thankfully, a good portion of the stolen funds have been recovered, but there’s still over $1 million in cryptocurrency that remains missing.

Country legend plays benefit show in tiny Colorado town | Music City Minute
Earlier this month The King, George Strait, popped up and kind of a peculiar place – about 15 minutes north of Gunnison in Almont, Colorado. No, he wasn’t on vacation. He was actually helping out long-time collaborator and good friend Dean Dillon raise money for the "Gunnison Tough Singer - Songwriter Shuffle." Dean Dillon launched "Gunnison Tough" 20 years ago. The endowment fund supports comprehensive cancer care programs in Gunnison and Hinsdale Counties.  Needless to say, this was probably one of the smallest crowds that The King has played for quite some time. As you can imagine, Strait's appearance was a well-received surprise for the 400 guests who were in attendance at the Almont Resort. This year's benefit concert raised just over $1.1 million for the Gunnison Tough Foundation.

Jason Aldean's son rushed to the ER, Zac Brown Band drops major news | Music City Minute
It was a rough week for Jason Aldean's son, Memphis, who ended up in the ER. Mama Britney eventually confirmed that little Memphis had shattered his collarbone and, thankfully, he will be just fine. In an effort to keep his son’s spirits up, the "Let Your Boys Be Country" singer suggested his 7-year-old tell folks that the break happened while wrestling alligators.

It has finally become clear why Zac Brown Band wiped their social media pages recently. The Georgia band confirmed they are dropping a new 13-song album called "Love and Fear," featuring collaborations with Dolly Parton, Snoop Dogg and Marcus King. But, that's not all! Zac Brown Band has booked a mini residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas as well. The album release date and the residency kickoff date are both December 5. Tickets for the string of Sin City shows will go on sale Friday, July 25.

New Jersey grandma goes wild for Thomas Rhett, road life is never boring with Dierks Bentley | Music City Minute
Fun fact: my first concert was New Kids on the Block at Fiddler's Green when I was six years old. Nearly four decades later, I have seen countless artists and bands perform live. So, it was incredibly shocking for me to read that 87-year-old New Jersey grandma attended her very first country concert last week. The night was made even more memorable when the country star they were seeing, Thomas Rhett, hopped off the stage and gave octogenarian a big hug and she kissed him right on the cheek! Talk about a truly unforgettable experience.

Dierks Bentley and Zach Top are having a fantastic time together on the road. Recently, they had some downtime before a show, so they decided to try the "Bugatti" TikTok trend. Dressed as their "Hot Country Knights" alter egos, one by one, Bentley and his band were swiftly pulled out of frame. Zach Top was the last to appear in the video, hilariously scooting off screen at a snail's pace. Between social media challenges and peer pressured cold plunges, it is nice to see these artists engaging in wholesome activities.

Texas Hill Country needs help, and country music stars are answering the call | Music City Minute
It is true not all heroes wear capes – sometimes they wear cowboy hats! In this case, Chris Stapleton has stepped up help folks affected by the devastating Texas floods. Humanitarianism runs deep in the Stapleton family. Repeatedly, Chris and Morgane have helped with relief funds, especially in the way of natural disasters, such as flooding, tornadoes and wildfires. The country power couple have now donated $1 million to support flood victims through their charitable fund "Outlaw State of the Kind." The funds will benefit local Texas and national organizations, including Miranda Lambert's "MuttNation."

Speaking of the "Bluebird" singer, Lambert has confirmed she is planning a charity concert that will benefit organizations committed to flood relief. Unfortunately, no specific details are available yet. However, the country icon is looking forward to providing more help to her fellow Texans.

Play stupid games with Jelly Roll, win stupid prizes | Music City Minute
"WWE SmackDown!" was filmed at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on July 11, and Jelly Roll was on hand ended up delivering a "smack down" of his own. Initially, it seemed like Jelly Roll was only there to perform and hype up the crowd. However, he was rudely cut off mid-song by Logan Paul, who was talking a bunch of trash about the artist and his family. The "Liar" singer finally stood up to the YouTube star and served up one heck of a whoopin'. Personally, I also loved the shots of the live audience, including his wife Bunnie XO, who was seated next to Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit. With all the work that he’s been putting into a healthier lifestyle, I think Mr. Jason DeFord would have a great backup career in wrestling if this whole country rockstar thing doesn’t work out.

Big news concerning the CSU PBR Last Cowboy Standing event next month has been announced – Tim McGraw will not be performing on July 21. There will still be live music after the bull riding event on Monday, July 21 – Cross Canadian Ragweed has signed on to take McGraw's place. Jon Pardi is still slated to close out the event on July 22 after the second night of bull riding is complete. Luke Bryan cancels Country Jam performance, Parker McCollum sings to number one fan | Music City Minute

Whatever Luke Bryan is battling, it is kicking his behind. Unfortunately, the country star has had to cancel his performance at Country Jam in Grand Junction. In a statement posted to his social media, Bryan said he was really sorry that he couldn’t play this weekend's show, and that his voice isn’t there yet. However, not all is lost for country fans attending the festival on the Western Slope. The "Mind of a Country Boy" singer confirmed his buddy, Eric Church, is stepping in to fill his headline spot on Saturday.

There is something very soothing about singing country songs to your kiddos. When my boys were babies, I used to sing "Cry, Cry, Cry" and "Country Bumpkin" to them. Parker McCollum admitted that his favorite lullaby to sing his 10-month-old son, Major, is a Randy Travis tune from a few years ago, called "Where That Came From." The revelation definitely paints in adorable picture of Parker McCollum and his baby bonding.

Popular Americana artist in mourning, Ella Langley's 'Fancy' fangirl moment | Music City Minute
Billy Strings shared devastating news with his audience in Lexington, Kentucky, last week. He explained that just hours before he took the stage, his mother, Deborah Apostle, had passed away. Strings thanked his fans, saying that his mom would’ve wanted the show to go on, and that’s why it was so important for him to perform that night. He also asked the audience instead of a moment of silence to make as much noise as they could to honor his mom. We are wishing Billy Strings and his family strength and comfort during this difficult time.

On a lighter note, Ella Langley opened up about her first experience meeting the queen of country, Reba McEntire. The moment occurred earlier this year, backstage at the ACM Awards. The "You Look Like You Love Me" singer went full fangirl when she saw Miss Reba walking by. With a giggle, Langley explained that she shouted out the country star’s name, the "Fancy" singer turned around, said Ella's full name and introduced herself. The rising country star admits she was stunned and it was the coolest moment.

Country artist breaks rib, performer offers refunds to Arkansas fans | Music City Minute
Illness and broken bones were plaguing country artists over the weekend. First up is Kacey Musgraves, who had a show planned for the Ryman Auditorium on June 22. However, that concert has been rescheduled to September 18 because she broke a rib. The "Rainbow" singer posted pictures of her x-rays, explaining that she was in Mexico and slipped and fell on wet tile. The fall was hard enough to fracture the sixth rib on her left side. The pain was so excruciating there was no way she could get on a plane and fly back to Nashville. Musgraves reassured fans she is being well taken care of and apologized for the inconvenience.

Next is Luke Bryan, who had to postpone two shows because of vocal issues. Bryan paused a performance partway through his concert in Rogers, Arkansas, to explain it’s the weirdest thing, every time he plays that particular venue, he loses his voice. The "Mind of a Country Boy" singer went on to apologize for not giving the best show possible, and he was going to make sure everyone in the audience got a refund.

Country legend recruited by Mötley Crüe, Randy Hauser's family rocks out together | Music City Minute
Here is a collaboration I didn’t see coming, but fully support – Mötley Crüe and Dolly Parton got together to record a new version of "Home Sweet Home." The remastered, easily recognizable tune will appear on Crüe's latest compilation album "From The Beginning," which is set to drop September 19. This isn’t the first time the rocking hair-band has recruited a country singer to revamp the song. A version of "Home Sweet Home" featuring Justin Moore was released back in 2014.

Last year, when Randy Hauser played Red Rocks, he brought out his five-year-old son Huck to perform Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down." It turns out little Huckleberry is a big fan of rock ‘n’ roll. According to Hauser, his kiddo's guitar hero is Angus Young of AC/DC. So, when Randy and his wife found out that AC/DC were going to be coming through Nashville, they took the opportunity to see classic rock band live. Huck even dressed up in a schoolboy uniform similar to Angus' famous on stage get up.

Corey Kent's shocking preshow ritual | Music City Minute
This morning, when I woke up, I didn’t think I was going to be talking about country stars and tasers, but here we are. Corey Kent is one of the opening acts on Jon Pardi's Honky-Tonk Hollywood Tour. And, he recently revealed his crew's preshow rituals. The "Wild As Her" singer explained that before going on stage, he and his band get together for preshow shots, handshakes and then they play spin-the-bottle. However, they don't play by normal rules. Instead of PDA, it’s more like taser roulette. Yeah, you heard that right. Whomever the bottle lands on gets tasered in the chest. Kent said he’s been the lucky loser at least six times throughout the tour. He swears the excitement and adrenaline leads to a better performance for fans. Well, it certainly is an interesting way to literally generate electricity before a show. Now, I’m curious if Kent and his crew will be practicing this very specific ritual before they hit the Fiddler's Green stage at Birthday Bash 45, July 6. By the way, if you are wondering if Jon Pardi has stepped up to the challenge, that is a big "Negative, Ghost Rider."

Jason Aldean and Darius Rucker help cancer patient's dream come true, Kane Brown scares daughter while flexing fishing skills Music City Minute
DJ Daniel is a 13-year-old boy who is currently battling brain and spinal cancer. Even though his fight is hard enough, he wants to be able to support other kids with cancer as well. So, he took a social media with a simple question, "Does anybody know Jason Aldean?" DJ was trying to get the singer's attention to help put together a benefit show to raise money for children just like him. Thankfully, DJ’s request was heard loud and clear by Darius Rucker (who happens to be good friends with the "She's Country" singer.) The two country stars posted a response video to DJ, saying they are all in and want to make this show happen!

Kane Brown posted a hilarious fishing video with his daughter Kodi (who he calls "Koko") to promote his new song, "Two Pair." The clip starts out with Brown showing his daughter some night crawlers and Koko crying at the sight of the worms. Next, we see Brown sitting lakeside, rod in hand, getting attacked by bugs and also getting his line caught in tree. Finally, it all wraps up with Kane's catch of the day, an old boot.
