Luke Bryan cancels Country Jam performance, Parker McCollum sings to number one fan | Music City Minute

Whatever Luke Bryan is battling, it is kicking his behind. Unfortunately, the country star has had to cancel his performance at Country Jam in Grand Junction. In a statement posted to his social media, Bryan said he was really sorry that he couldn’t play this weekend's show, and that his voice isn’t there yet. However, not all is lost for country fans attending the festival on the Western Slope. The "Mind of a Country Boy" singer confirmed his buddy, Eric Church, is stepping in to fill his headline spot on Saturday.

There is something very soothing about singing country songs to your kiddos. When my boys were babies, I used to sing "Cry, Cry, Cry" and "Country Bumpkin" to them. Parker McCollum admitted that his favorite lullaby to sing his 10-month-old son, Major, is a Randy Travis tune from a few years ago, called "Where That Came From." The revelation definitely paints in adorable picture of Parker McCollum and his baby bonding.

Popular Americana artist in mourning, Ella Langley's 'Fancy' fangirl moment | Music City Minute
Billy Strings shared devastating news with his audience in Lexington, Kentucky, last week. He explained that just hours before he took the stage, his mother, Deborah Apostle, had passed away. Strings thanked his fans, saying that his mom would’ve wanted the show to go on, and that’s why it was so important for him to perform that night. He also asked the audience instead of a moment of silence to make as much noise as they could to honor his mom. We are wishing Billy Strings and his family strength and comfort during this difficult time.

On a lighter note, Ella Langley opened up about her first experience meeting the queen of country, Reba McEntire. The moment occurred earlier this year, backstage at the ACM Awards. The "You Look Like You Love Me" singer went full fangirl when she saw Miss Reba walking by. With a giggle, Langley explained that she shouted out the country star’s name, the "Fancy" singer turned around, said Ella's full name and introduced herself. The rising country star admits she was stunned and it was the coolest moment.

Country artist breaks rib, performer offers refunds to Arkansas fans | Music City Minute
Illness and broken bones were plaguing country artists over the weekend. First up is Kacey Musgraves, who had a show planned for the Ryman Auditorium on June 22. However, that concert has been rescheduled to September 18 because she broke a rib. The "Rainbow" singer posted pictures of her x-rays, explaining that she was in Mexico and slipped and fell on wet tile. The fall was hard enough to fracture the sixth rib on her left side. The pain was so excruciating there was no way she could get on a plane and fly back to Nashville. Musgraves reassured fans she is being well taken care of and apologized for the inconvenience.

Next is Luke Bryan, who had to postpone two shows because of vocal issues. Bryan paused a performance partway through his concert in Rogers, Arkansas, to explain it’s the weirdest thing, every time he plays that particular venue, he loses his voice. The "Mind of a Country Boy" singer went on to apologize for not giving the best show possible, and he was going to make sure everyone in the audience got a refund.

Country legend recruited by Mötley Crüe, Randy Hauser's family rocks out together | Music City Minute
Here is a collaboration I didn’t see coming, but fully support – Mötley Crüe and Dolly Parton got together to record a new version of "Home Sweet Home." The remastered, easily recognizable tune will appear on Crüe's latest compilation album "From The Beginning," which is set to drop September 19. This isn’t the first time the rocking hair-band has recruited a country singer to revamp the song. A version of "Home Sweet Home" featuring Justin Moore was released back in 2014.

Last year, when Randy Hauser played Red Rocks, he brought out his five-year-old son Huck to perform Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down." It turns out little Huckleberry is a big fan of rock ‘n’ roll. According to Hauser, his kiddo's guitar hero is Angus Young of AC/DC. So, when Randy and his wife found out that AC/DC were going to be coming through Nashville, they took the opportunity to see classic rock band live. Huck even dressed up in a schoolboy uniform similar to Angus' famous on stage get up.

Corey Kent's shocking preshow ritual | Music City Minute
This morning, when I woke up, I didn’t think I was going to be talking about country stars and tasers, but here we are. Corey Kent is one of the opening acts on Jon Pardi's Honky-Tonk Hollywood Tour. And, he recently revealed his crew's preshow rituals. The "Wild As Her" singer explained that before going on stage, he and his band get together for preshow shots, handshakes and then they play spin-the-bottle. However, they don't play by normal rules. Instead of PDA, it’s more like taser roulette. Yeah, you heard that right. Whomever the bottle lands on gets tasered in the chest. Kent said he’s been the lucky loser at least six times throughout the tour. He swears the excitement and adrenaline leads to a better performance for fans. Well, it certainly is an interesting way to literally generate electricity before a show. Now, I’m curious if Kent and his crew will be practicing this very specific ritual before they hit the Fiddler's Green stage at Birthday Bash 45, July 6. By the way, if you are wondering if Jon Pardi has stepped up to the challenge, that is a big "Negative, Ghost Rider."

Jason Aldean and Darius Rucker help cancer patient's dream come true, Kane Brown scares daughter while flexing fishing skills Music City Minute
DJ Daniel is a 13-year-old boy who is currently battling brain and spinal cancer. Even though his fight is hard enough, he wants to be able to support other kids with cancer as well. So, he took a social media with a simple question, "Does anybody know Jason Aldean?" DJ was trying to get the singer's attention to help put together a benefit show to raise money for children just like him. Thankfully, DJ’s request was heard loud and clear by Darius Rucker (who happens to be good friends with the "She's Country" singer.) The two country stars posted a response video to DJ, saying they are all in and want to make this show happen!

Kane Brown posted a hilarious fishing video with his daughter Kodi (who he calls "Koko") to promote his new song, "Two Pair." The clip starts out with Brown showing his daughter some night crawlers and Koko crying at the sight of the worms. Next, we see Brown sitting lakeside, rod in hand, getting attacked by bugs and also getting his line caught in tree. Finally, it all wraps up with Kane's catch of the day, an old boot.

Conner Smith reeling after weekend accident, Riley Green sets record straight about his mustache | Music City Minute
Up-and-coming artist Conner Smith was involved in a fatal accident the first weekend in June. The "Creek Will Rise" singer was driving his truck through an intersection on the north end of Nashville when he apparently struck a 77-year-old woman, and, unfortunately, that woman passed away from her injuries. The crash investigation is still ongoing with the singer fully cooperating with authorities. The initial police report noted that Conner Smith showed no signs of impairment on the scene.

There is one name in country music that we cannot get off our lips right now – Riley Green. Some buzz has been floating around about why he shaved off his mustache recently (which had nothing to do with a girl, by the way). He cleared up the speculation, explaining he shaves every summer to avoid the farmer's face tan. That makes sense considering how much time he spends outside. Green is also privy to the comments about his clean, shaven face and dramatic appearance. "Someone said I went from Tombstone to finance!" said the Worst Way singer with a hardy chuckle. Personally, I am team mustache.

HARDY imitates dentist, George Jones stands among legends | Music City Minute
We have heard artists talk about strange requests they get from fans, such as autographing their baby's head. HARDY recently got one of those odd solicitations at a recent meet and greet. A young boy and his mom asked the country rocker if he could pull the boy's loose tooth out. The "REDNECKER" singer obliged and, in a video, posted to social media we see the exact moment he reaches into the youngster's mouth and pops out the milk tooth. HARDY admits he has never done that before and will never do it again.

Country legend George Jones, a.k.a. The Possum, has been officially enshrined outside the Mother Church of Country Music. Earlier this week, friends, family and fans attended a small ceremony outside the Ryman Auditorium where Jones' widow, Nancy, unveiled the new statue of the Country Music Hall of Famer. The "White Lightning" singer's likeness stands proud among other Opry legends including Charley Pride, Loretta Lynn, Bill Monroe and Little Jimmy Dickens.

Post Malone's new addition to the Honky-Tonk Highway, all aboard the Pardi bus | Music City Minute
It is no secret that Post Malone likes to party. And with all the friends he has a Nashville, he’s calling the city his second home. So, it only makes sense for him to have his own honky-tonk, right? News has broken that Post Malone will be opening a 26,000 square-foot venue this summer in the lower Broadway District in Nashville. Patrons will be able to enjoy six bars, three stages, a full-service dining room and a huge rooftop area overlooking the heart of Music City. Posty has some famous neighbors too, his massive venue will be right next door to Jason Aldean's Kitchen and Rooftop Bar.

Country stars with families make it a priority to outfit their tour buses for family comfort. Jon Pardi's family will be traveling in style after he procured a brand new bus for the Honkytonk Hollywood Tour. The "Dirt On My Boots" singer's wife, Summer, and oldest daughter, Presley, took us on a small tour of the bus where Presley got to see her new bunkbed with a curtain. The toddler was super excited to have her own space which she quickly filled with blankets, stuffed animals and even a projector to watch movies!

Chris Stapleton’s Greenville show is a no-go, Ella Langley’s embarrassing mistake | Music City Minute
Chris Stapleton and his band were all geared up for the first date of the American Roadshow Tour 2025 in Greenville, South Carolina. However, en route to the show, critical pieces of the production equipment were damaged beyond repair. According to a statement, the Greenville show is now rescheduled for Wednesday, July 9. Stapleton’s All-American Roadshow Tour is now slated to kick-off June 6 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Just because you’re a big ole country star with a microphone and a guitar doesn’t mean that you don’t have a brain fart every once in a while. That’s exactly what happened to Ella Langley recently. Langley, who was opening for Riley Green on the Damn Country Music Tour, stepped out on stage and wanted to shout out the night’s previous openers, Wyatt McCubbin and Vincent Mason. Unfortunately, instead of shouting out Mason’s name, the “Weren’t For The Wind” singer accidentally said Hudson Westbrook. After her set, Langley took to social media to apologize profusely for the “Oopsie.” Maybe Ella needs to do that cliché thing where she writes down important information and tapes it to the back of her guitar so she doesn’t get mixed up…?

Kane Brown's new role alongside famous friends, Lorrie Morgan's husband called home | Music City Minute
Kane Brown is taking his acting career to the next level. So far, Brown has only appeared on the small screen in commercials and the show "Fire Country." Now, the "Thank God" singer has a bigger production on the horizon – his very first feature film. He will be starring alongside Taylor Lautner (of "Twilight" fame) in the "Token Groomsman." The director of the movie said Kane has something so unique – a rare mix of vulnerability and magnetism that’s incredibly compelling. A brief synopsis of the film says Brown's character, Neil, is the levelheaded best friend of the main character. Ultimately, Neil is the voice of reason and helps his friend get through a chaotic weekend during the busy wedding season. Unfortunately, production hasn’t started yet and no release date has been announced. Nevertheless, we are excited for Kane Brown's big screen debut.

Lorrie Morgan is mourning the passing of her husband, Randy White, after a courageous battle with mouth cancer. The longtime Grand Ole Opry member took to social media to honor her husband, calling him her partner, champion and rock for 17 years. Our deepest sympathies are with Lorrie Morgan and her family.

Krista Slaubaugh of Tigerlily Gold and Walker Montgomery are relationship goals, Miranda Lambert's next big move | Music City Minute
Congratulations to Krista Slaubaugh and Walker Montgomery on their recent engagement. Krista, who is one-half of the sister duo, Tigerlily Gold, and Walker, who is the son of John Michael Montgomery, shared the exciting news via "People" magazine. The happy couple initially met in 2023 after Kansas City, Missouri, concert. Montgomery admits he had been planning the engagement for months. He wanted everything to go perfectly; initially disguising the plan as a simple surprise getaway to Highlands, North Carolina.

Miranda Lambert has been writing, recording and performing for over 20 years. She is highly decorated, winning ACM, CMA and Grammy awards. Even with all that success, she is still dreaming big. One of the "Kerosene" singer's biggest goals is to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Being a realist, she doesn’t expect an invitation like, tomorrow, but she said she is working hard to earn that spot.

Kenny Chesney is the 21st century man | Music City Minute
Kenny Chesney's music has a vibe that attracts plenty of fans to propel the "Get Along" singer to the top of the charts. Billboard, which tracks chart positions for all genres of music, has named Chesney the top country act for the first 25 years of the 21st century. The rankings are based on performance on weekly top country albums and hot country song charts from 2000 through the end of 2024. When it comes down to specifics, Kenny Chesney has 21 number one hot country songs and impressively, all 17 of Chesney's albums in the last quarter century have hit number one on the top country albums chart. It is exciting to see that No Shoes Nation is stronger than ever! On a side note, even though George Strait will always be the King of country music, I like to think of Kenny Chesney as the Pirate King of country.

Koe Wetzel expands family, Shania Twain catches fans off guard | Music City Minute
Congratulations to Koe Wetzel and his girlfriend, Bailey Fisher, who welcomed a baby girl named Woods Madison! The ecstatic mama and papa initially announced the pregnancy back in January. Funny enough, the day that Fisher gave birth was also the day she had a maternity photoshoot planned. Thankfully, that plan wasn't a total wash, as Fisher shared personal photos from the delivery room. With the arrival of the new baby, Wetzel (who is on tour with HARDY) missed the first weekend of the JimBob World Tour, but he is hoping to return to the road this week in Salt Lake City.

A group of lucky folks were treated to a personal concert from Shania Twain in the Bahamas. In a viral video circulating on various platforms, we see Shania strumming a guitar and singing "You’re The One" with a house band. Judging by the audience size, which was only a handful of patrons and an equal amount of bartenders, it was definitely an impromptu performance and once in a lifetime experience for everyone who was at the establishment.

Country stars showed up and showed out at the American Music Awards | Music City Minute
The American Music Awards were held in Las Vegas over the weekend and country stars were aplenty. Those who sashayed down the red carpet included Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey, Megan Moroney, Zac Brown as well as Dan + Shay. One of the things that makes the American Music Awards special is that it is the largest fan-voted award show. So, winners are not chosen by a committee, rather, they are chosen by fans. In the country music categories, Post Malone won Favorite Male Country Artist, while Beyoncé won Favorite Female Country Artist. Dan + Shay took home the award for Favorite Country Music Duo or Group and Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” won Favorite Country Album. Lastly, Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s hit collaboration, “I Had Some Help,” won the Favorite Country Song award. Two of country music’s heavy hitters graced the stage for performances at the award show – Lainey Wilson sang her brand new song “Somewhere Over Laredo,” while Blake Shelton stepped into the spotlight to perform his new single “Stay Country or Die Tryin’.”

Parker McCollum forced to face the truth, Scotty McCreery teaches his son proper form | Music City Minute
Before meeting his wife, Parker McCollum didn’t think he would have kids. In his mind, he thought he would be too consumed with his career. All those feelings changed though after he married Hallie Ray and their son, Major Yancey, was born. He absolutely loves being a dad to his 10-month-old, but his wife made a comment recently that shook him into his core. “Isn’t it weird to think we won’t be here for his whole life?” Hallie nonchalantly queried. The moment of self-realization sent the “Pretty Heart” singer into a tailspin, but he recovered quickly. McCollum goes to confirm that every cliché about kids being the best thing in the world is absolutely true.
Speaking of dads and sons, Scotty McCreery posted a video of him and his son Avery during a golf lesson. The adorable clip shows the “Five More Minutes” singer standing behind his two-year-old on the putting green. The two of them line up a shot and swing together however, the golf ball did not reach its intended destination. In true toddler form, Avery chased after the ball swinging at it a few more times, but never completing the shot. We’ll give Avery an “A” for effort!

Dolly Parton's legendary life on display, Dierks Bentley loses sleep over daughter | Music City Minute

Renaissance woman Dolly Parton was on-hand for the opening of a brand new exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville called Dolly Parton: Journey of a Seeker. The exhibit illustrates the living legend's more than 60-year career through special artifacts like clothes, awards, handwritten lyrics, instruments, photos and more. Having her success laid out in a linear way, the "Jolene" singer said it has been a long way from the top of the Smoky Mountains to the top of the world and it’s wonderful to see her little girl dreams come true. Dolly Parton: The Journey of a Seeker, is open now at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and will run through September 2026.

Dierks Bentley has opened up about his 16-year-old daughter Evie dating, and he has surprised himself how laid back he is about the situation. While he might not be like the overbearing dad in "What Was I Thinking," he still has that protective parent impulse to stay up until his daughter gets home safe. Unfortunately, that is usually after his bedtime, so it’s caused the singer to lose some sleep.

Morgan Wallen plays new songs at festival, Alan Jackson bids farewell to touring | Music City Minute
What better way to celebrate the release of a brand new album than to debut seven songs off that record for 40,000 screaming fans at your own music festival! That's exactly what Morgan Wallen did over the weekend. Wallen's latest project, "I’m The Problem," dropped on May 16, smashing streaming records on all the top platforms. The inaugural Sand In My Boots festival kicked off the same day as the album drop, and with the help of a few friends like Bailey Zimmerman, Ernest, Post Malone, Hardy and Brooks & Dunn, the first ever Sand In My Boots fest in Gulf Shores, Alabama, was a smashing success.

My first country concert was Alan Jackson at McNichols Arena. I will never forget that show, just like fans in Milwaukee won’t forget Jackson's final roadshow performance. The country music icon got emotional as he talked about ending his touring career, calling his success the American Dream. The Chattahoochee singer isn't fully retiring just yet. Jackson revealed to the sold-out crowd that he is planning huge finale concert set to take place in Nashville next summer.

Chris Young helps out fellow musician | Music City Minute
I have personally heard several stories about Chris Young's kindness toward musicians around the Nashville area. Everything from generous tips on gig nights to his latest act of goodwill for a fellow singer/songwriter named Sam Hayes. The Music City-based artist posted a viral video about his guitar getting crushed by an airline. Typically, Hayes carries-on his instrument, but on this particular flight, he was told the overhead bins were full and he needed to gate-check his guitar. Being that the instrument was in a soft-shell case, unfortunately, it ended up completely destroyed sometime between the loading and unloading process of the plane. Chris Young caught wind of the story and called up Hayes to tell him there was a Gibson acoustic guitar with his name on it waiting at a local vintage shop. The "Raised On Country" singer shared that something similar happened to him early in his career and he was proud to be able to help out a friend.

Zach Bryan to honor his favorite American literary through arts center, "Emo Country" girly draws inspiration from her fans | Music City Minute
Zach Bryan has been very vocal about his love of American literature. Authors like Steinbeck, Faulkner and Jack Kerouac are among his favorites. Now, according to Kerouac's estate, the "Pink Skies" singer is making it his personal mission to share the life and art of his favorite literary. Earlier this month, Zach Bryan purchased a former church in Kerouac's hometown of Lowell, Massachusetts. He will help personally fund a transformation of historic building into what will be called the Jack Kerouac Center. It will be a cultural hub of sorts, which will house exhibits and host live music, public readings and community events.

Megan Moroney has opened up about how her music has helped fans navigate some of their toughest times. One letter that stood out to her was from a young girl who was being bullied in school. The fan said Megan's song "Bless Your Heart" was the only reason she was able to find the confidence to get through it. The "Tennessee Orange" singer said it is interactions like these that help fuel her inspiration to keep writing music that means something.

Two of Nashville's biggest players consider reunion tour, Gabby Barrett's next move | Music City Minute
Dierks Bentley and Jason Aldean haven't toured together in twenty years. Now that they’re both huge country stars, wouldn't it be fun if they hit the road for another go around? Bentley and Aldean were asked their opinion on the idea and it sounds like if details could get hammered out, the tour would be a go! As for who would open and who would headline the show, the "Somewhere On A Beach" singer said he would happily open for the "Tattoos On This Town" rocker if that’s what it took to get the ball rolling.

Gabby Barrett is currently working on a follow up to her last album "Chapter and Verse," and she teased new music that’ll be out this summer. Barrett said she is exploring a new chapter of music and her next single will echo her smash hit, "I Hope," with a little bit of sass. Starting next month, Gabby Barrett will quite literally pack up the entire family and hit the road for a string of summer shows. When asked how she balances motherhood with performing, she admits she couldn’t be out on tour without her family because they keep her grounded.

Ashley McBryde receives the highest honor from her alma mater, Blake Shelton brings Keith Whitley's life into sharp focus | Music City Minute
Ashley McBryde has been studying music since she was knee-high to a grasshopper. She first learned mandolin and guitar, eventually picking up trumpet, French horn and percussion. Her many talents would lead to a full-ride scholarship to Arkansas State University. However, recognizing her incredible musical abilities, one of her professors encouraged her to drop out and pursue music full-time. That’s not the last she would see of the school though. In a full circle moment, the "Brenda Put Your Bra On" singer was nominated and awarded an honorary doctorate of music from the university. So, from here on out, she will be addressed as Dr. Ashely McBryde, thank you very much!

Considering the influence Keith Whitley has had on generations of artists, it is shocking to learn there is no documentary about his life. Blake Shelton is changing that though. Shelton is coproducing a documentary about Whitley's life with the blessing of his widow, Lorrie Morgan. It doesn’t sound like they terribly far in the process, however, Blake did confirm that the Country Music Hall of Fame archives have been a tremendous help, suppling over one-hundred hours of never-before-seen footage of "Don't Close Your Eyes" singer in his prime.

Gretchen Wilson is on an unofficial comeback tour | Music City Minute
Gretchen Wilson is on a comeback tour of sorts. Her character, Pearl, recently won "The Masked Singer." She’s also been recruited as road manager for the new Blake Shelton and Keith Urban reality show called "The Road." Reflecting on these amazing opportunities, the 51-year-old singer recently opened up about why she had been out of the spotlight the last few years. Unfortunately, it boils down to her health. A while back, the singer had gotten a really bad case of COVID-19, which left her with high blood pressure, shortness of breath and asthma. The combination of issues made it hard for her to do lighthouse work, let alone perform for any length of time. The "Redneck Woman" also mentioned that she had shattered her leg at one point, and she was in a wheelchair for eight months. Thankfully, with the help of a good team of doctors, Gretchen's ongoing health issues are well-managed. She considered her appearance on "The Masked Singer" a personal test to see if she could still perform. Not only did she prove to herself that she could rock a stage, she could crush the competition too! The experience has left Gretchen Wilson energized and ready to take new challenges.

Jelly Roll's wife nearly crashes out, Luke Combs takes time to connect with family | Music City Minute
Back in 2021, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani performed at Cheyenne Frontier Days. Unfortunately, Gwen Stefani had a slight mishap with her high heels. As Stefani was exiting the stage, her heel got stuck in the grated stairs. Hilariously, the same thing happened to Jelly Roll's wife, Bunnie XO, during a packed concert. Bunnie XO was invited on stage by her husband, and after leaning in for a kiss, her six-inch heels got stuck in the grated platform. Making light of the situation she posted a video of the incident, "Watch me almost eat it in front of 100,000 people!" said the caption.

Luke Combs fans have probably noticed his tour schedule is much lighter this year. The "Ain't No Love in Oklahoma" singer only has about 20 gigs on the calendar, mostly festival appearances. The reason he’s taking a breather is so he can spend more time with his two sons Tex and Beau. Combs admits this break isn’t something he could have pulled off earlier in his career as he was gaining popularity. However, Luke feels he is at a point professionally where he can take time for himself and fans will still support him.
