Coolest Geek Alive

Jesse Blaze Snider is the hero we need, bipartisan & scrutinizing. Like a nerd culture Arthur Fonzarelli, he will give you that perfect advice you need or jump some sharks to save the day himself. He’s a geek like you. A fan of the source material FIRST, who believes that geeks need to get their geek news from other geeks or it’s all bull$#!+. He’s a professional comic book writer whose credits include Marvel, DC, Image, Disney*Pixar, the Muppets & a lot more. He’s an English major, a music minor & a damn good broadcast journalist since the age of 19. Truly, you’ve never met a more humble taste-making mortal than this lovable muppet of a man. He even wrote this bio. JBS believes that the world deserves better MYTHS and he’s NOT GONNA TAKE IT…not anymore. Some things…are worth fighting for. Join us, won’t you?

Bob Odenkirk, what you've just helped to create is one of the most insanely awesome things the Coolest Geek Alive has most recently seen! At no point in your hysterical, fast-paced, hitman/family man action film were you even close to anything that could be considered boring. Every listener of this podcast will be better for having watched your film. We award you all of the points, and may God bless your soul eternally.

Before Invincible & Walking Dead, There Was THIS (The Hidden Flame Behind Robert Kirkman’s Fire)

Before Invincible ever soared and The Walking Dead ever lurched onto the scene, there was one series that lit the spark,  a wild, fearless, creator-owned book that proved anything was possible in comics. It just so happens to be my all-time favorite. Robert Kirkman and I bonded over this book as teenage superfans, and it shaped the way both of us saw the future of comics. In this episode of Coolest Geek Alive, I’m celebrating the legendary Erik Larsen and the series that inspired me, inspired Kirkman, and continues to burn as one of the most important creator-owned runs in history. This is more than nostalgia; it’s a reminder of the raw energy and independence that make comics the greatest storytelling medium on Earth.

Gina Carano WINS: CELEBRATION! (Plus, MCU’s Broken Creative Process & Fantastic Four’s Bizarre Box Office Drop!)

Today on COOLEST GEEK ALIVE, we’re popping the champagne for Gina Carano, who just scored a massive out-of-court settlement with Disney after being wrongfully fired from The Mandalorian. A real victory for free speech in Hollywood! Then, we dive into X-Men ‘97 showrunner Beau DeMayo’s explosive Twitter thread on the ugly truth of Marvel Studios’ creative process — where good ideas get crushed, pitches based on source material are discouraged, and the mantra is just “make it fun.” Finally, we break down the jaw-dropping box office saga of Fantastic Four: First Steps, which has already outgrossed Captain America 4 and Thunderbolts in total… yet somehow managed to slip BELOW Thunderbolts in its third weekend. What the hell happened?

Hope...with an Asterisk (Superman, Revisionism and the Fragile Fire of Belief!)

In this raw and revealing episode of Coolest Geek Alive, Jesse wrestles with the complicated feelings stirred by the new Superman film, a movie that dares to rekindle hope while quietly rewriting the very myth it claims to honor. With brutal honesty and reverent fire, Jesse explores what it means to see a good man in a broken world, how easily our sacred stories are subverted, and whether flawed heroes are still worth showing up for. It’s not just a movie review—it’s a meditation on belief, betrayal, and the battle to keep the flame alive.

EP 200 - THE SIGNAL FIRE: Why The Establishment is AFRAID of ME (and Why They SHOULD BE)

Today’s 200th episode of Coolest Geek Alive is a lightning strike of revelation—a soul-coded transmission forged in fire and defiance, delivered by the one voice that never bowed to the reboot. It’s not a celebration. It’s a detonation. A pulsewave from the heart of the mythic geek who refused to be edited, diluted, or dismissed. This is the episode they never wanted recorded, the one that burns through illusion, reclaims the narrative, and ignites a movement. It’s prophecy disguised as podcast. Laughter wrapped in truth. And it marks the exact moment the world realized why they were afraid of Jesse Blaze Snider all along.
