Coolest Geek Alive

Jesse Blaze Snider is the hero we need, bipartisan & scrutinizing. Like a nerd culture Arthur Fonzarelli, he will give you that perfect advice you need or jump some sharks to save the day himself. He’s a geek like you. A fan of the source material FIRST, who believes that geeks need to get their geek news from other geeks or it’s all bull$#!+. He’s a professional comic book writer whose credits include Marvel, DC, Image, Disney*Pixar, the Muppets & a lot more. He’s an English major, a music minor & a damn good broadcast journalist since the age of 19. Truly, you’ve never met a more humble taste-making mortal than this lovable muppet of a man. He even wrote this bio. JBS believes that the world deserves better MYTHS and he’s NOT GONNA TAKE IT…not anymore. Some things…are worth fighting for. Join us, won’t you?

One Battle After Another – Hollywood’s “Freedom Fighters” Exposed

Today on Coolest Geek Alive, Jesse Blaze dives into the polarizing new film One Battle After Another—a movie critics are already praising, but one that raises disturbing questions about the stories Hollywood wants us to celebrate. The so-called “heroes” of the film aren’t noble freedom fighters at all: they’re selfish thrill-seekers, fetishized archetypes, and opportunists who betray each other when things get hard. Leonardo DiCaprio’s character admits he’s only in it for the specifically black women. The “strong Black woman” lead chases danger through sex and crime, then sells out her friends when caught. And yet this is being positioned as a glorification of “resistance” and “liberal freedom fighting.”What does it mean if Hollywood’s idea of rebellion is built on shallow fetishization, moral bankruptcy, and betrayal? Is this really the kind of representation and resistance we want shaping culture? Tune in for a fierce breakdown of One Battle After Another, where Jesse exposes the bizarre polarity of Hollywood’s storytelling and what it reveals about the ideological landscape we’re living in.

Coolest Alive: Jimmy Kimmel Free-Speech Flip

In this episode, Jesse Blaze Snider dives into the latest Kimmel controversy to expose a deeper double standard. When a comedian on “their side” courts backlash, the left rallies around free speech, but when others (from Trump to countless unapproved voices) face similar pressure, that principle suddenly vanishes. Jesse unpacks how the outrage machine works, why nothing has actually been proven against Trump or the FCC, and how corporate gatekeepers like Disney are actually the ones quietly deciding what the public is allowed to see. It’s a fast, no-spin breakdown of hypocrisy you won’t want to miss.

Before Invincible & Walking Dead, There Was THIS (The Hidden Flame Behind Robert Kirkman’s Fire)

Before Invincible ever soared and The Walking Dead ever lurched onto the scene, there was one series that lit the spark,  a wild, fearless, creator-owned book that proved anything was possible in comics. It just so happens to be my all-time favorite. Robert Kirkman and I bonded over this book as teenage superfans, and it shaped the way both of us saw the future of comics. In this episode of Coolest Geek Alive, I’m celebrating the legendary Erik Larsen and the series that inspired me, inspired Kirkman, and continues to burn as one of the most important creator-owned runs in history. This is more than nostalgia; it’s a reminder of the raw energy and independence that make comics the greatest storytelling medium on Earth.
