Lamar Reviews - "Project Hail Mary" (Airdate 4/10/2026)

My addiction to TV and movies is no secret. I
refuse to let go of AOL because of my email
address, Musthavetv@aol.com
I do my best to watch everything, comedy, drama,
action, sci-fi, documentaries, and even horror. If
it’s not the devil, the original Exorcist was enough
for me. I enjoy probably 95% of everything I watch
to at least some extent. Well, except Mother, a
crime against humanity, which was written by a
sharpened piece of coal dipped in satan’s blood.
But every great once in a while, I come across a
movie that grabs me in a way that challenges me
to think, and to keep up, but also affects me
emotionally and wrecks me in a way I can’t quite
describe. That is what happened in Project Hail
Mary.
I’m very thankful that I was the only one in the
theater. There were no witnesses, no one that can
prove I was sobbing multiple times, sad crying,
then happy crying, then more sad crying, then
cheer crying, rinse and repeat.

The only proof would be texts to Sheri which I
hope she will delete.
I know this seems like a rambling review, and it is.
I can’t give you any real details that could spoil
your experience. I will give you the plot.
Earth is dying. There is no villain. There is no one
to blame. Nothing anybody could have done to
prevent it. Some sort of unknown particles shown
up around Venus and they are sucking up the
energy of the sun, cooling it down. 50% of the
Earth’s population will die of starvation in 30
years. This is happening to every other star in the
galaxy, except one. Why?
A group of scientists come up with Project Hail
Mary. They will send astronauts light years away
to that planet, figure out how to stop the particles
and send the answer back to Earth by probe. It is
a one-way trip, a suicide mission.
A middle school teacher, Ryland Grace, played by
Ryan Gosling, is the guy. It is too complicated to
explain why, or how, but he’s the guy. And trust
me, only Ryan Gosling could have played him.

Sidenote, think what you will, but I have tears in
my eyes right now as I do this review. My only
request is that in 30 days I be able to reapply for
my man card if I’m able to prove I still drink scotch,
smoke a cigar from time to time, and love to shoot
a gun.
Grace finds himself light years away from Earth,
alone, trying to save the entire galaxy, and he
meets the only help he’s got. An alien that is made
out of rock, which is on the same mission he is, to
save his own planet. Grace names him Rocky and
tries to figure out how they will communicate. And
if he can, will they be able to save both their
planets?
The movie is 2 hours 36 minutes, I wish it had
been twice that, I need more details. Rated-PG13.
The Audible book comes out May 5 th , I have pre-
ordered it. It is 16 hours of reading, listening,
whatever you want to call it, that I’m looking
forward to. See this movie, seriously see it. That is
all I can say.
My Score: A Full 12pk of ICE COLD Budweisers.
