Olivia Wilde on not letting the audience escape ‘The Invite’

Olivia Wilde has acted in projects including the indie film 'Drinking Buddies,' and this year’s edgy comedy 'I Want Your Sex.' She has also directed the films 'Booksmart' and 'Don’t Worry Darling.' And in 'The Invite,' one of the biggest comedies of 2026, she did both.

The film stars Wilde and Seth Rogen as a married couple who host their neighbors, played by Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton, in their apartment on an unforgettable night. Wilde tells The Treatment why she kept all the film’s action inside the apartment, how 'The Invite' shows a progression in her work as a director, and why she is always seeking out truthtellers both in her films and in life.

The Treatment is a compelling listen to the vital conversations about the catalysts of creative inspiration. Following some of the most interesting, influential, and crossover creators in the world of entertainment, fashion, sports, and the arts, we hear from tastemakers who are the very fabric that forms popular culture.
