Episode Description
As we celebrate Father's Day, my pair of guests this week is a dad and son, 2nd and 3rd generation pentecostal pastors in Georgia. We start with "Stuck in your Head," teaching you a song from my trip to Israel with these 2 men from a decade ago.
(4:38) Pastors Dennis and Brad Lacy, leaders at North Highland Assembly of God Church in Columbus GA, told some serious and funny stories. We first dive into the dynamic of being a father and son on church staff together, including the former "punk preacher's kid." (15:23) That Israel trip gave us all a new perspective on Jesus.
(21:29) Their passion for Missions has taken these gentlemen all around the world but also helping people in America. They told one story about babies crying on the streets of Romania, no one to hold them, so they went and rocked babies. (30:24) Teens and young adults often walk away from faith and the church, so how are they combatting that trend?
(36:43) The COVID-19 pandemic has also changed the way church is done, possibly more minimalistic, Pastor Dennis never missing an Easter service in person before this. Attendance dropped, but now the focus is on how members can BE the church. (45:01) We also talked about gaining those pandemic pounds, how that's led to family walks.
(49:12) Pastors Dennis and Brad also share what it was like becoming a dad, and the legacy of faith they're passing down. (58:52) They did the honors of a closing prayer. Our "parting gift" is about training adding fuel to the fire.
