Aging Better: Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

September is Gynecologic & Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, and on this week’s episode of Aging Better, a local doctor who specializes in treating these diseases joined the conversation.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 21,000 women will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer in2 026. More than 12,000 will die from the disease.

Dr. Susan Modesitt, professor and chair in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine, has done extensive research focusing on hereditary cancers, obesity-related cancers and clinical trials in gynecologic oncology.
