Terry McLaurin Requests Trade From Washington Commanders? + Is Lamar Jackson A Historic Passer?

Reese, Kmac and Alex discuss if Lamar Jackson is a historically great passer and Terry McLaurin requesting a trade.

In a recent interview with ESPN’s This Is Football, Harbaugh emphatically called Jackson a "historically great passer." He emphasized that the long-standing narrative that Jackson was only a runner has been completely erased: "He is as good as any passer that there's ever been, and I think now the numbers have proven that." Is Harbaugh right?

Yesterday, Terry McLaurin formally requested a trade from the Washington Commanders, citing stalled talks and dissatisfaction with the terms of his upcoming season’s pay—just $15.5M in base salary and limited guarantees. Despite this, the Commanders have shown no clear inclination to move him if possible and reportedly still hope he’ll finish his career in Washington. Is this McLaurin situation troubling for Washington? Should Commanders fans be worried?

Was ESPN Wrong To Drop Shannon Sharpe Ahead Of Brother’s Hall Of Fame Induction?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss Shannon Sharpe being fired by ESPN just before his brother's HOF induction.

Yesterday, Shannon Sharpe officially parted ways with ESPN, just weeks after settling a $50M sexual assault lawsuit. The lawsuit accused Sharpe of assaulting her during their relationship. Sharpe denied the allegations and had hoped to return to ESPN in time for the NFL season. Sharpe's last appearance on the network was in late April, shortly after the lawsuit was filed.

In yesterday’s episode of his podcast "Nightcap" with Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, Sharpe addressed his exit from ESPN. He explained that he had anticipated the news would emerge but requested a brief delay in the announcement due to a significant personal event: his brother, Sterling Sharpe, was being honored at the Pro Football Hall of Fame that week (August 2). Sharpe wanted to avoid overshadowing the moment with controversy related to his professional situation. Was ESPN wrong to announce Shannon Sharpe's firing before his brother Sterling Sharpe's Hall of Fame ceremony? Why didn’t they wait? Should they have?

Tonight, the NFL preseason officially kicks off with the Hall of Fame Game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Detroit Lions, set to begin at 8:00 PM Eastern Time. This year's Hall of Fame Game will also showcase some of the NFL’s new rule changes, including a reworked onside-kick alternative that's being tested during the preseason. NFL: NY Shooting, Jimmy Haslem Speaks On Shedeur Sanders & More

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss Jimmy Haslam's comments about Shedeur Sanders and the NFL-related shooting in New York on Monday.

At training camp, Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam firmly stated the selection of rookie QB Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round was GM Andrew Berry’s decision, distancing himself from the controversial pick. Sanders, a highly hyped prospect, fell to the fifth round, and Browns fans questioned the move.

On Monday, a tragic shooting rocked Midtown Manhattan. The attack took place at 345 Park Avenue, where Shane Devon Tamura, a 27-year-old former high school football player from Las Vegas, opened fire in a building housing major corporate tenants, including the NFL headquarters. The rampage left four civilians dead—including an off-duty NYPD officer—and ended with Tamura’s suicide on the 33rd floor. Tamura left behind a suicide note expressing grievances about chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) linked to football and suggested the NFL was a specific target. What’s happening now?

Christian Wilkins Released by Raiders After Injury Dispute and Locker Room Incident, Files Grievance Over Voided $35M

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss Christian Wilkins' situation with the Raiders.

Christian Wilkins, the veteran defensive tackle formerly with the Las Vegas Raiders, was released on July 24, 2025 — just one year into a four-year, $110M contract. The Raiders attempted to void $35.2M of the guaranteed portion of his deal after he declined surgery on his injured foot following a season-ending Jones fracture, opting instead to rehab the injury. He began training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list and was ultimately cut with a terminated vested veteran designation.

Growing tensions within the locker room came to light shortly after his release. According to multiple reports, Wilkins playfully kissed a teammate on the head in the locker room—an action the teammate took offense to—which is believed to have contributed to his release. In response, Wilkins has filed a grievance with the NFL Players Association, disputing the voiding of his remaining guaranteed salary and challenging how the situation unfolded. What really happened?

Dabo Swinney Visits Carolina Panthers Camp To Support Hunter Renfrow’s NFL Comeback + NC Central Coach Trei Oliver Calls Out Virginia Tech

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss Dabo Swinney attending Carolina Panthers camp yesterday and Trei Oliver calling out Virginia Tech.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney attended the Carolina Panthers’ first padded practice in Charlotte yesterday. He was there to support his former Clemson receiver Hunter Renfrow, who is making an NFL comeback with the Panthers. Renfrow, a former Clemson standout and 2021 Pro Bowler, had been released by the Raiders due to a battle with ulcerative colitis. He lost 35 pounds and battled severe fatigue but has since regained his health. His comeback led him to sign a one-year, $1.22M deal with the Panthers. Swinney and Renfrow maintained contact through the ordeal, and Swinney encouraged him to pursue a return to football when he began to regain his strength.

North Carolina Central head football coach Trei Oliver recently accused Virginia Tech of tampering by attempting to recruit his star running back, J'Mari Taylor, during a game against Howard University last November. Oliver claimed that a Virginia Tech staff member was present on NC Central's sideline, purportedly to meet with an administrator, but was actually there to recruit Taylor. Although Taylor did not sign with Virginia Tech, he eventually transferred to the University of Virginia for $400,000 and is now a starter there. Virginia Tech has acknowledged the allegation and is conducting an internal review to determine whether any NCAA rules were violated, emphasizing its commitment to integrity and adherence to NCAA regulations.

Deion Sanders Reveals Bladder Cancer Battle and Surgery, Says He's Cancer-Free and Ready to Coach

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss Deion Sanders' battle with bladder cancer.

Deion Sanders, the University of Colorado head football coach, revealed yesterday that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer. During the offseason, Sanders underwent a surgical procedure that removed his bladder and used part of his intestine to reconstruct a new one. His medical team, led by Dr. Janet Kukreja, confirmed that he is now considered cured of cancer and will continue coaching through the upcoming season.

Sanders described the ordeal as "dynamic" and emotionally challenging, acknowledging the toll it took on his body—he lost around 25 pounds during treatment. Throughout the process, Sanders remained upbeat and resolute. His medical team hailed his resilience, noting that he "never folded one time and never wavered." He even prepared a will in May when his condition was most serious.

Sanders urged especially African American men to take symptoms like blood in the urine seriously and get checked promptly. Despite his health scare, Sanders emphatically confirmed that he intends to coach the Buffaloes in the upcoming season. He even joked that practice lines and a porta-potty might be needed on the sideline. With his contract extended through 2029, Sanders is gearing up for the season opener on August 29 against Georgia Tech.

NFL: Will Terry McLaurin & The Washington Commanders Make A Deal?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders.

Terry McLaurin has been in a standoff with the Washington Commanders throughout the offseason, insisting on a new contract that reflects his status as a top-tier receiver. He’s reportedly seeking $30–33M per year. McLaurin skipped mandatory minicamp and initially missed the start of training camp, drawing escalating fines under the current CBA. After a four-day holdout, McLaurin returned to camp yesterday, ending the immediate standoff but still without a new deal in place. He was placed on the Active/PUP list due to an ankle injury from last season, which sidelines him from on-field activities but allows participation in meetings and rehab. Will McLaurin and the Commanders get a deal done?

Does the NFL do the best job of celebrating it's sport?

NFL: Will Micah Parsons & Trey Hendrickson Get Paid?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the contracts of Micah Parsons and Trey Hendrickson.

Trey Hendrickson is in the final year of his contract, set to earn $15.8M, with no guaranteed money remaining. Despite leading the league with 17.5 sacks in each of the past two seasons, the Bengals have yet to agree on a long-term extension. The team has allowed him to seek a trade, but only if teams meet their steep asking price—rumored to be at least a first-round pick plus a $30M/year contract.

Micah Parsons is playing under the fifth-year option ($24M for 2025) and has not yet signed an extension, despite being widely acknowledged as one of the best defensive players. He’s reportedly seeking a groundbreaking deal around $200M total, with an average annual salary exceeding $40–455, potentially surpassing the highest-paid non-QB mark. Will Micah get his money? What about Trey Hendrickson?
