Williams Hairston is a 2026 Salute To Champions Recipient! William Hairston is a noted entrepreneur and civic leader from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, best known as the driving force behind the HBCU Living Legends initiative. He and a group of volunteers created the HBCU Living Legends Scholarship Gala to showcase and celebrate the legacy of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) by honoring selected alumni as “living legends” and raising scholarship funds for high-achieving students attending those schools.
