What's Happening In The Transfer Portal?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the latest in the college basketball transfer portal.

The college basketball transfer is open for the 2026 cycle (April 7 to April 21— just 15 days) and within the first few days it already looks like full-scale free agency and this isn’t just role players transferring anymore, impact starters and stars are entering at a high rate. At the same time, entire rosters are turning over. Programs like TCU and Syracuse already have multiple players leaving, with some teams losing half their roster in a matter of days. This level of movement has become normal in the NIL era, where players can leave for better opportunities, bigger roles, or more lucrative deals.

Coaches are essentially operating like general managers, rapidly rebuilding teams with experienced players rather than relying on freshmen. Schools are also investing heavily, with programs like Houston reportedly working with multi-million-dollar roster budgets to compete for top talent. As a result, experience and proven production have become more valuable than potential, and roster continuity has largely disappeared. Who is staying? Who is leaving? What players are being pursued the most?

Is It Hard to Play With Family? LeBron and Bronny’s Viral Mavericks Moment Sparks Debate

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the viral moment between LeBron James and his son in a game against the Mavericks and whether they could handle the challenges of playing a sport alongside a family member as a teammate.

Recently, during a Los Angeles Lakers game against the Dallas Mavericks, a viral moment occurred between LeBron James and his son, Bronny James. Bronny attempted a chest pass to LeBron that was deflected, and LeBron immediately reacted on the court by telling him to use a bounce pass instead, giving him a noticeably stern, instructive look. The interaction quickly spread online because it highlighted LeBron’s dual role as both teammate and father, correcting Bronny in real time during an NBA game. The moment added another layer to the already historic storyline of the two playing together in the NBA as the league’s first father-son duo, where even small in-game interactions between them tend to draw major attention. Could you play a sport with a family member as a teammate?

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss The Masters, the transfer portal and more.

The 2026 The Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club is shaping up as a tightly contested battle early on, with several top players clustered near the top of the leaderboard. Rory McIlroy and Sam Burns have emerged among the early leaders, while Scottie Scheffler remains close behind in contention, keeping the field tightly packed heading into the weekend. At the same time, some big names have struggled out of the gate, adding to the volatility that Augusta is known for, while surprise contenders have helped keep the tournament wide open and unpredictable. Are you watching The Master's?

What’s Really Going On With Dianna Russini? + NBA News

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss why Dianna Russini is in the news, some NBA news and more.

Recent speculation around Dianna Russini has been driven by viral photos showing her with Mike Vrabel at a resort in Arizona. The images, which appeared to show the two spending time closely together in settings like a pool and rooftop, quickly sparked online rumors about a possible relationship, especially since both are married. The situation gained more attention as social media users pointed to the seemingly intimate nature of the photos and resurfaced older clips of Russini joking about her marriage, adding fuel to the speculation. However, both Russini and Vrabel have denied any inappropriate relationship, describing the situation as a group outing taken out of context, and Vrabel has publicly dismissed the rumors as “laughable.” Is there any truth to the rumors?

Dishin' It Up w/ Dr. Deborah Stroman: NCAA Eligibility Changes On The Horizon?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex speak with Dr. Deborah Stroman.

Dr. Stroman joins the Sports Shop to discuss The Masters, the potential NCAA shake-up versus tweaks, the five-year eligibility rule and more.

Right now, the NCAA has not changed its core eligibility rule, athletes still have five years to play four seasons once they enroll full-time in college. However, there is growing momentum to change that system. Some proposals would allow athletes to compete in five full seasons instead of four and Division II has already discussed versions of this idea, though no final decision has been made and any change is still years away. At the same time, coaches and even lawmakers have pushed for more flexibility, including expanded eligibility windows, while recent lawsuits from athletes have begun to challenge the NCAA’s authority over these limits. Altogether, while nothing is official yet, there is clear pressure building that could eventually lead to a shift toward a more flexible eligibility model, possibly including five seasons of competition. What should happen?

Arkansas' Chuck Martin Set To Join Michael Malone's UNC Staff + Transfer Portal Update

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss the transfer portal, the connection between John Calipari and Chuck Martin and the hiring of Michael Malone.

Former Kentucky assistant Chuck Martin is leaving Arkansas to take a job as associate head coach at North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball under new head coach Michael Malone. The move reunites Martin with Malone, as the two previously worked together earlier in their careers, and brings a veteran presence to UNC’s staff. Known as a strong recruiter with experience at multiple major programs, including Kentucky, Indiana, South Carolina and Oregon. Martin played a key role in assembling top talent at Arkansas, making his departure a notable loss for John Calipari and the Razorbacks. Overall, the hire strengthens UNC as Malone continues building his coaching staff with experienced, well-connected assistants. Will UNC be formidable with Malone?

Mike Malone Chooses UNC: Can He Stay Long-Term And Transform the Program?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss Mike Malone choosing UNC, if he will stay in Carolina longterm and more.

Yesterday marked two weeks since the University of North Carolina fired former head coach Hubert Davis and the search for his replacement has now concluded with the hiring of Michael Malone, former head coach of the Denver Nuggets. UNC conducted a high-profile search aimed at sustaining its tradition of excellence, prioritizing candidates with NCAA Tournament success, strong recruiting ties and the ability to maintain the program’s winning culture. Ultimately, the school made a bold and historic choice, hiring Malone, an NBA champion known for building disciplined, high-performing teams, marking the first time in decades that UNC has gone outside its traditional “Carolina family.” At his introductory press conference at the Dean Smith Center yesterday, Malone emphasized that UNC was the only college job he would consider and outlined a vision centered on NBA-level development while respecting the program’s storied history. Still, the hire raises important questions: is Malone the right fit for the college game, was he UNC’s best option, or did the program ultimately settle? Will Malone be in Carolina for the long haul?

Elliot Cadeau Leads Michigan Wolverines To National Title, Shines After Transfer From UNC

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss Michigan’s championship win over the UConn Huskies and a defining moment for Elliot Cadeau, whose transfer from the North Carolina Tar Heels transformed him from a promising but inconsistent player, into the leader of a national title team.

The Michigan Wolverine’s 69-63 win over the UConn Huskies in the national championship carried major historical weight and a compelling individual storyline. UConn entered as a modern powerhouse under Dan Hurley, while Michigan Wolverines men's basketball was chasing its first title since 1989 and looking to end the Big Ten’s long drought. The game stayed tight, but Michigan pulled away late. The standout was Elliot Cadeau, who scored 19 points and earned Final Four MOP honors. A former five-star recruit at the North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball, he showed promise but never fully broke out before transferring after the 2025 season. At Michigan, he found the right fit, becoming the team’s leader and guiding them to a title. His success highlights the power of the transfer portal in today’s game and serves as a “what if” for UNC, while Michigan’s win signals a return to national prominence and UConn remains an elite program despite the loss.

Michigan Vs. UConn Preview & Latest On UNC Men’s Basketball Coaching Search

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss UNC’s ongoing search for a new men’s basketball coach, debate why the program remains without a hire two weeks after Hubert Davis was fired, weigh whether the decision to let Davis go was premature or necessary to preserve the Tar Heels’ winning culture and preview tonight's National Championship game.

Tomorrow marks two weeks since UNC fired former head coach Hubert Davis. Since then, UNC has launched a high-profile search for its next men’s basketball head coach, aiming to continue the program’s tradition of excellence. The search has focused on candidates with proven NCAA Tournament experience, strong recruiting ties and the ability to maintain the Tar Heels’ winning culture. Despite all this, UNC is still without a coach. Why is that? Who will be the next UNC men's basketball coach? Was firing Hubert Davis a knee-jerk reaction?

Tonight, the 2026 NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship tips off as the Michigan Wolverines face the UConn Huskies at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Michigan comes in riding momentum from a dominant Final Four win over Arizona. UConn, meanwhile, has also reached the title game, continuing the program’s long tradition of excellence. Beyond the championship itself, this game carries bigger implications: a win for UConn would cement head coach Dan Hurley’s legacy and reaffirm the Huskies’ place among college basketball elites, while Michigan has the chance to capture its first national title since 1989 and solidify its status as a powerhouse under coach Dusty May. Who will win?

Michigan Rolls Past Arizona To Reach Men’s Final; UCLA Claims First Women’s Title With Dominant Win Over South Carolina

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss Michigan’s dominant Final Four win over Arizona, preview tonight’s men’s championship matchup against UConn and UCLA’s commanding performance over South Carolina to capture their first women’s national title.

The Final Four matchup between Michigan Wolverines and Arizona Wildcats over the weekend quickly turned into a one-sided performance, as Michigan came out aggressive, built an early lead and never let Arizona get comfortable, rolling to a convincing win to secure a spot in the national championship game. Michigan controlled the game almost immediately and kept up their pressure throughout. How will Michigan fare tonight against UConn?

The UCLA Bruins defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks in dominant fashion in the women's national  championship gamenational championship game yesterday. UCLA controlled the game from the opening tip, built an early lead and never looked back, overwhelming South Carolina on both ends of the floor. The Gamecocks, one of the most dominant teams all season, struggled to find any rhythm and couldn’t generate enough offense to keep pace. In the end, it was UCLA's first NCAA women’s basketball championship. How impressive was UCLA?

Geno Auriemma’s Controversial Exchange With Dawn Staley + What Does A UConn Win Mean For Dan Hurley?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss Geno Auriemma’s controversial Final Four exchange with Dawn Staley, break down the unresolved apology drama and preview tonight’s men’s national championship clash between UConn and Michigan and what a UConn victory could mean for Dan Hurley’s legacy.

On Friday night, the UConn Huskies lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Final Four, ending their tournament run. Following the Final Four loss, Geno Auriemma had a heated, very public exchange with Dawn Staley in the closing moments, reportedly sparked by frustration over a missed pregame interaction and the intensity of the game itself. It quickly became one of the biggest storylines coming out of the night. The next day, Auriemma issued what he called an apology, saying there was no excuse for how he handled the situation and acknowledging he was out of line. But the part that’s really keeping the conversation alive is that he apologized generally to South Carolina’s players and program, without directly naming Staley. She later said she hadn’t personally heard from him, which leaves this in a bit of a gray area: technically an apology, but not exactly a clean resolution, and definitely something that still has people talking. What's up with Geno Auriemma?

UCLA Cruises To First Women’s Basketball Title, Virginia Women's Basketball Coach Fired

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss how UCLA dominated the women’s national championship game against South Carolina, and then turn to Virginia, analyzing the surprising firing of Amaka Agugua‑Hamilton after a Sweet 16 run and the reported internal issues that led to the decision.

The UCLA Bruins defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks in dominant fashion in the women's national  championship gamenational championship game yesterday. The major news over the weekend involved the abrupt firing of head women’s basketball coach Amaka Agugua‑Hamilton, despite her leading the Cavaliers to the Sweet 16, the program’s first since 2000, following an internal investigation into allegations of a toxic and “nightmarish” team culture.
