NBA Play-In Tournament: Hornets, Trail Blazers Win + Is Bronny A Good Value Draft Pick?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss last night's play-in games in the NBA, Bronny James and more.

The Charlotte Hornets pulled off a dramatic 127-126 overtime win over the Miami Heat in a tightly contested play-in game, keeping their season alive in thrilling fashion. The game featured constant momentum swings, with numerous ties and lead changes, but it was LaMelo Ball who ultimately took over, finishing with around 30 points and scoring the game-winning layup in the final seconds of overtime. However, his performance was also overshadowed by controversy after a trip on Bam Adebayo early in the game contributed to Adebayo leaving with an injury, a moment that proved pivotal as Miami lost its defensive anchor and interior presence. Highly touted rookie Kon Knueppel struggled badly, turning in a disappointing performance with minimal scoring impact and inefficiency, giving Charlotte very little from what’s usually a key supporting piece. The loss ends Miami’s season, while Charlotte advances in the play-in tournament and now sits one win away from securing a playoff spot, where they would likely face the top-seeded Detroit Pistons. What happened to Knueppel? Should LaMelo be suspended next game? Did Ball trip Adebayo intentionally? Is LaMelo Ball too nonchalant? Does he care?

The Portland Trail Blazers rallied late to defeat the Phoenix Suns 114-110 in a dramatic Western Conference play-in game. With the win, Portland secures the 7-seed and advances to face the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs, while Phoenix is pushed into a must-win situation where they’ll need to beat the winner of the play-in matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers to keep their season alive.

Charlotte Hornets Win: LaMelo Ball Apologizes For Tripping Bam Adebayo + Is LaMelo Too Nonchalant?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the Hornets win over Heat, LaMelo Ball's apology and if he is too nonchalant on and off the court.

Key contributions also came from Coby White, who hit a clutch three-pointer late in regulation to force overtime, and Miles Bridges, who sealed the win with a buzzer-beating defensive stop. On the other hand, highly touted rookie Kon Knueppel struggled badly, turning in a disappointing performance with minimal scoring impact and inefficiency, giving Charlotte very little from what’s usually a key supporting piece. The loss ends Miami’s season, while Charlotte advances in the play-in tournament and now sits one win away from securing a playoff spot, where they would likely face the top-seeded Detroit Pistons. Overall, it was a statement win for the Hornets’ young core, though not without controversy, while the Heat are left wondering how things might have unfolded had Adebayo stayed healthy. What happened to Knueppel? Should LaMelo be suspended next game? Did Ball trip Adebayo intentionally? Is LaMelo Ball too nonchalant? Does he care?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the WNBA Draft, the Hornets game tonight and more.

The 2026 WNBA Draft was headlined by Azzi Fudd going No. 1 overall to the Dallas Wings, signaling the arrival of an elite scorer into the league. Transfer Portal Movement: What Is UNC Doing? + What Did Doc Rivers Do To Reese?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss UNC's transfer portal moves, Doc Rivers and the Bucks parting ways and more.

Five-star guard Dylan Mingo decommitting from North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball is a major shake-up that reflects the program’s transition. One of the top players in the 2026 class, Mingo had committed earlier in the year, but the coaching change from Hubert Davis to Michael Malone quickly altered the situation. After meeting with the new staff, both sides decided to part ways, making his decommitment feel more mutual than typical, especially unusual for a five-star recruit.

The move highlights how much UNC is reshaping its roster and identity under new leadership, prioritizing fit within the system over simply retaining highly ranked commitments. What really happened?

Doc Rivers is no longer the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks after the team decided to move on following a disappointing season that ended without a playoff appearance. Rather than a sudden in-season firing, his departure is being described as a postseason exit, with Rivers stepping down or mutually parting ways with the organization after finishing the year. The Bucks struggled to meet expectations during his tenure, despite being built around superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, and the team ultimately underperformed over multiple seasons under Rivers’ leadership. Why is Reese happy about this?

Transfer Portal: UNC Parts Ways With Five-Star Guard Dylan Mingo - What Else Did UNC Do?

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss Dylan Mingo and UNC parting ways, transfer portal moves and more.

The move highlights how much UNC is reshaping its roster and identity under new leadership, prioritizing fit within the system over simply retaining highly ranked commitments. What really happened?

Louisville has been one of the most aggressive teams in the 2026 men’s college basketball transfer portal, completely reshaping its roster through a mix of major additions and significant turnover. The Cardinals landed two headline transfers in Flory Bidunga (formerly Kansas), one of the top big men available, and Jackson Shelstad (formerly Oregon), a dynamic guard who immediately strengthens the backcourt. Bidunga in particular is viewed as a potential program-changing frontcourt presence and both additions have significantly raised expectations for the team under head coach Pat Kelsey. How impactful are these moves?

Who Should Be NBA ROY? + Previewing NBA Play-In Matchups + WNBA Draft Tonight!

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss who should win NBA Rookie of the Year, the NBA Play-In game matchups, the WNBA Draft and more.

The NBA regular season is over abd the Play-In matchups are set! Which NBA Play-In game are you most looking forward to? Who is this year's NBA Rookie of the Year?

The 2026 WNBA Draft is taking place tonight, April 13, at 7 p.m., featuring three rounds and 45 total picks, and it stands out as one of the most unpredictable drafts in recent years. The Dallas Wings hold the No. 1 overall pick for the second straight year, but unlike past drafts, there is no clear consensus top prospect. Several players are in contention for the first selection, including Azzi FuddAwa FamOlivia Miles and Lauren Betts, making team fit and strategy especially important. This year’s class is also notable for its strong international presence, with prospects like Fam highlighting the WNBA’s growing global reach. In addition, the draft is considered deep with college talent, including multiple potential first-rounders from programs like UCLA, and rising stars who boosted their stock during March Madness. It is also the first draft held under the WNBA’s new collective bargaining agreement, which brings improved salaries and benefits for incoming players, signaling continued growth for the league. Expansion teams like the Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire add another layer of intrigue as they begin building their rosters. One unusual storyline is that top prospect Olivia Miles has already signed with the 3-on-3 league Unrivaled, showing how players now have more professional options than ever. Overall, tonight’s draft is less about a guaranteed superstar and more about depth, uncertainty, and the continued evolution of the WNBA.

What's Happening In The Transfer Portal?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the latest in the college basketball transfer portal.

The college basketball transfer is open for the 2026 cycle (April 7 to April 21— just 15 days) and within the first few days it already looks like full-scale free agency and this isn’t just role players transferring anymore, impact starters and stars are entering at a high rate. At the same time, entire rosters are turning over. Programs like TCU and Syracuse already have multiple players leaving, with some teams losing half their roster in a matter of days. This level of movement has become normal in the NIL era, where players can leave for better opportunities, bigger roles, or more lucrative deals.

Coaches are essentially operating like general managers, rapidly rebuilding teams with experienced players rather than relying on freshmen. Schools are also investing heavily, with programs like Houston reportedly working with multi-million-dollar roster budgets to compete for top talent. As a result, experience and proven production have become more valuable than potential, and roster continuity has largely disappeared. Who is staying? Who is leaving? What players are being pursued the most?

Is It Hard to Play With Family? LeBron and Bronny’s Viral Mavericks Moment Sparks Debate

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the viral moment between LeBron James and his son in a game against the Mavericks and whether they could handle the challenges of playing a sport alongside a family member as a teammate.

Recently, during a Los Angeles Lakers game against the Dallas Mavericks, a viral moment occurred between LeBron James and his son, Bronny James. Bronny attempted a chest pass to LeBron that was deflected, and LeBron immediately reacted on the court by telling him to use a bounce pass instead, giving him a noticeably stern, instructive look. The interaction quickly spread online because it highlighted LeBron’s dual role as both teammate and father, correcting Bronny in real time during an NBA game. The moment added another layer to the already historic storyline of the two playing together in the NBA as the league’s first father-son duo, where even small in-game interactions between them tend to draw major attention. Could you play a sport with a family member as a teammate?

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss The Masters, the transfer portal and more.

The 2026 The Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club is shaping up as a tightly contested battle early on, with several top players clustered near the top of the leaderboard. Rory McIlroy and Sam Burns have emerged among the early leaders, while Scottie Scheffler remains close behind in contention, keeping the field tightly packed heading into the weekend. At the same time, some big names have struggled out of the gate, adding to the volatility that Augusta is known for, while surprise contenders have helped keep the tournament wide open and unpredictable. What’s Really Going On With Dianna Russini? + NBA News

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss why Dianna Russini is in the news, some NBA news and more.

Recent speculation around Dianna Russini has been driven by viral photos showing her with Mike Vrabel at a resort in Arizona. The images, which appeared to show the two spending time closely together in settings like a pool and rooftop, quickly sparked online rumors about a possible relationship, especially since both are married. The situation gained more attention as social media users pointed to the seemingly intimate nature of the photos and resurfaced older clips of Russini joking about her marriage, adding fuel to the speculation. However, both Russini and Vrabel have denied any inappropriate relationship, describing the situation as a group outing taken out of context, and Vrabel has publicly dismissed the rumors as “laughable.” Is there any truth to the rumors?

Dishin' It Up w/ Dr. Deborah Stroman: NCAA Eligibility Changes On The Horizon?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex speak with Dr. Deborah Stroman.

Dr. Stroman joins the Sports Shop to discuss The Masters, the potential NCAA shake-up versus tweaks, the five-year eligibility rule and more.

Right now, the NCAA has not changed its core eligibility rule, athletes still have five years to play four seasons once they enroll full-time in college. However, there is growing momentum to change that system. Some proposals would allow athletes to compete in five full seasons instead of four and Division II has already discussed versions of this idea, though no final decision has been made and any change is still years away. At the same time, coaches and even lawmakers have pushed for more flexibility, including expanded eligibility windows, while recent lawsuits from athletes have begun to challenge the NCAA’s authority over these limits. Altogether, while nothing is official yet, there is clear pressure building that could eventually lead to a shift toward a more flexible eligibility model, possibly including five seasons of competition. What should happen?
