Baltimore bridge collapse

Early this morning, or late last night for those of us on Mountain Time, a mayday call was received from a cargo ship that had lost power and the ability to steer as it rammed into Baltimore’s Francis Scott Bridge. The boat ran straight into a foundational support pylon which effectively collapsed it and the bridge. Greg is joined by ABC News Correspondent Andy Field, who breaks down what happened with audio recordings from technicians as the bridge collapsed.

Supreme Court debates abortion medication

ABC News Correspondent Andy Field stuck with us on KSL at Night to discuss one of the only times the U.S. Supreme Court has second-guessed FDA actions. In 2016 and 2021, the FDA eased access to the drug, mifepristone, which is a medication to induce an abortion through 10 weeks of pregnancy. Listen to find out how the debate went and what the likely outcome will be to this unprecedented case.

Next week’s trial of Chad Daybell

KSL at Night is joined by KSL TV Reporter Lauren Steinbrecher, who covered the Lori Vallow Daybell trial last year. Chad Daybell is Lori’s husband and will appear in front of the same judge as she did last year, but this trial will be live-streamed so less crowds will visit the courthouse. Greg asks Lauren what the difference is between these two trials and what we can expect on Monday.

More details from Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt's case

If you thought it couldn't get worse, there are more details emerging from the child abuse case involving Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt. One of the children was so reluctant to talk to police, it took her more than four hours to come out of the closet where she was hidden. In a phone call from prison, Jodi Hildebrandt is recorded downplaying the abuse that she was convicted of last month.
