Linda Pruitt, a Lake City business owner and resident, joined Greg Tomlin and Tim Gaydos on Thursday to sound the alarm over how city leaders are allowing Lake City to become overrun with crime and city sanctioned tent cities that are being allowed to stay despite Mayor Harrell promising they would be moved after one year.

District 12 State Rep and former Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett joined the John Curley Show Thursday to talk about a rally that aims to change policy that leads to children being placed in the care of parents who present a clear an present danger to the child or themselves.   He also spoke to the ongoing man hunt for Travis Decker and the difficult terrain and pressure that the law enforcement tracking him are dealing with.  

State Rep and Chairman of the Washington State Republic Party TORE into the Seattle Times for publishing an editorial that claimed he was sponsoring a bill that would end mail-in voting.   The bill, which seeks to require proof of citizenship to register to vote, wouldn't have any impact on mail-in voting which the Times would know "if they even bothered to read the bill they were reporting on" according to Walsh.  

Matthew Mastronardi, a Spanish teacher at Spokane's West Valley High School, is having his teaching contract terminated after he read to his class from the assigned book "To Kill a Mockingbird".   As Mastronardi explains it, he wanted to use the controversial passage as an opportunity to explain the importance of context, historical significance and critical thinking to his students.   

A JCS listener who has been teaching  CTE (Career Tech Education) in the Tacoma School District for 14 years called in to share his perspective on the rapidly deteriorating situation around attendance and behavior at his school and the shocking ways the district ensures kids graduate even if they don't bother showing up for classes. 

Wilson also mentioned on the show that his former domestic partner, who filed the temporary restraining order, Lee Keller, had mentioned getting it dismissed.

"She's come back each time and said, 'Look, I'm really sorry. I want to make it work.' And this happened even after this, DVRO (domestic violence restraining order), and through an intermediary, she said, 'Will you let John know I so love him. I'm so sorry about this. I'm getting it dismissed,'" he said.

However, Keller's attorneys subsequently reached out to the show, telling KIRO Newsradio, "The restraining order is very active."

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell made an appearance at Pier 62 to kick off the revitalized waterfront concert series, but not before taking the stage to rally the attendees around his overarching "One Seattle" goal, a sign that campaigning for the upcoming mayoral race is already underway.

"Spiritual, rhythmic, infinite, peaceful. You're in for a treat. My wife and I are going to enjoy it with you," Harrell said Monday night along Pier 62 before pivoting to politics. "One Seattle! We're all here together to fight for the city. Fight against Trump. Fight for diversity. Fight for inclusion. Fight for LGBTQ+. Our values. We will fight, fight, fight. But tonight, we're going to listen and come together as one. One Seattle!"

Seattle is just days away from officially being one year away from hosting the 2026 World Cup, and there is still a ton of work to do, according to the Downtown Seattle Association (DSA).

"It's nice to have a marker, a milestone, a big event that everybody can sort of rally around," Jon Scholes, president & CEO of DSA, said on "The John Curley Show." "A date in a line in the sand out there in June 2026, so there's been a lot of good work to date. I mean, we should be doing this stuff anyway."

On Thursday while discussing the part-time work requirements to qualify for Medicaid in Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill", John asserted that able bodied Americans should just "find a job" if they want benefits.   Alan from Redmond texted in saying it's not that easy as he's been unemployed and searching for work for 8 months as a highly qualified tech worker.   Alan joined the show Friday to was able to give John some boots on the ground perspective on what the job market is really like for people like himself right now and John was able to connect him with a friend who helped launch Microsoft into a tech behemoth.
