Recently drafted Detroit Lions and former Arizona State cornerback Keith Abney joined Big 12 Today to share his draft experience. Abney received a call from the Lions' general manager, confirming his status as one of the newest members of Detroit. Reflecting on his time at Arizona State, he praised Coach Dillingham for his loyalty and credits him for helping position him for this moment. 

Abney discussed the process of team inquiries, including questions about his achievements as a national speed skating champion. He revealed that his NFL dream began at age four, and he knew he wanted to play professionally once he picked up a football. His conviction grew stronger in high school, especially after seeing former teammate Cam Skateboo get drafted, inspiring him to put in the work. 

Looking ahead, Abney expressed excitement for the next steps as a rookie, stating he's ready for whatever challenges come his way. He proudly affirmed that he is now an NFL player, eager to elevate his game and represent the Detroit Lions.
