BTLS | 9AM Mon. Apr. 20 - Stepson Torture Horror, NBA Mob Betting Scandal, and a Fallen Mayor

Bubba and the crew go deep on a brutal Connecticut abuse case where a 32-year-old man, reportedly held captive by his stepmother for about 20 years, set his room on fire so firefighters would finally find him, telling rescuers he was hungry all day, every day, and just wanted his freedom. The guys react to reports that he weighed only about 68 pounds at 5 feet 9 and that the stepmother now faces a stack of felony charges, including assault, kidnapping-style offenses, and unlawful restraint, with a bond set in the hundreds of thousands.

From there, the show jumps into a wild NBA gambling scandal, breaking down how former player and coach Damon Jones is expected to plead guilty in a mafia-linked betting probe that allegedly used inside info about injuries and rigged poker games to cheat victims out of more than 7 million dollars, with Chauncey Billups pleading not guilty in the same web of cases. Bubba and the boys chew on what it means for the league, the locker room, and fans who thought the games were clean.

The segment turns even darker with news that former Gettysburg mayor Chad Carr has been arrested in Texas on multiple child sex crime warrants out of Pennsylvania, including felony sexual assault and charges tied to sexual depictions of a child, as more alleged victims come forward. The crew closes with a rapid-fire local crime roundup featuring fresh homicides, shootings, long cold cases suddenly cracked, and an arms trafficking bust, promising to keep the true crime barrage going after the break.
