This week might actually qualify as a "not safe for work" episode! They boys have quite the disucssion about getting old (so what else is new?) but this time, there's some - shall we say - interesting stories and jokes about all the different bodily parts and functions that get probed and prodded for all kinds of different medical exams. All in the name of science, of course! 

It's been a crazy week in the "real world" out there. That makes for a little bit of conversation on the topics of current events and politics. Yes, a rare thing for this podcast, but the boys felt it was something that needed mentioning, especially if there's a few good jokes to be had.

This week, it sounds like the boys have hit new levels of "old man" complaining, as we listen to BJ talk about how he doesn't like "freezing" in the winter in Central Florida! Really, that much colder than his old days in Fort Myers? We think not... 

As often happens, the subject of our favorite travel stop - Buc-ee's - comes up. There's quite the spirited discussion on the merits of the pulled pork vs. brisket sandwiches. Have you got a favorite? Let us know..

On this week's shows... BJ's travels for a mini-vacation for his anniversary. Congrats! Of course if there's a road trip involved, that means a stop at Buc-ee's. It's now official: the boys are looking to reach out to their favorite highway travel stop to look into sponsorship possibilities. What took so long... right??

Also this week, BJ recently discovered a new radio station that actually uses podcasts as its broadcast "format." Crazy? Interesting? Who knows. The media world is undergoing a lot of change these days, and this is just the latest idea to create new radio listeners.

This week - a little catching up on sports, including big congrats to the Florida Panthers for pulling off an exciting Game 7 win in the Stanley Cup Finals. Also, big smiles all around for the Florida Everblades pulling off back-to-back-to-back Championship wins in their Kelly Cup Finals. Nice!

BJ is thinking - nothing serious at this point - about plugging in to the electric vehicle (EV) trend. That leads to quite the discussion on having an electric car as a family's "everyday driver." Would you want an electric car? Do you already own one? How's that going for you? For Bill, who just got back from a week in the mountains of northern Georgia, it's not really an option. But (as they say) different strokes for different folks. 

There's also a nice rememberance of Jimmy Nelson, a comedian, ventriloquist and 1960's TV star who was a big friend to the old BJ and Bill radio show. Nice memories of a great man, his equally wonderful wife of many years, and their impact on SW Florida.

This week, Bill is "on location" at a secret mountain hideaway (sounds like a song!) in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia. Not so secret, now that we've told you, right? 

Anyway, to get there, Bill had to drive up I-75 through Georgia, which meant a stop at the Buc-ee's in Warner Robbins (of course!). There are pictures to prove it this time, and Bill tells the story of a brisket sandwich for lunch and a bag of "Beaver Nuggets" for snacks. To say yummy! to both is an understatement. You'll have to listen for all the tasty details. 

Speaking of food (which the boys do a lot, don't they?) BJ talks about plans to visit SW Florida this week. Specifically, his son and grandkids. BJ was hoping to visit an iconic restaurant, located on Sanibel Island, but it seems that particular business has not yet re-opened after Hurricane Ian badly tore up the place. 

As always, there's a little talk about sports, a little talk about music, etc. All the regular features of the show.

This week - the boys talk about visits to offbeat and lesser-known Florida tourist spots. BJ had a good weekend visiting one of them in the Orlando area. What Florida OG spots have you visited? Bill is a big Weeki Watchee fan...

Also (and after a long time away from being mentioned on the show) there's some new Buc-Ee's talk! Seems the boys' favorite travel stop has opened the newest - and biggest to date - store in Texas. (Where everything is bigger, right?) Both BJ and Bill will be traveling in the next couple of weeks, so both will be planning their trips with Buc-ee's stops in mind.

Yet another great place to subscribe to - and listen to - BJ and Bill - the Podcast. The show is now available on YouTube Music! (Heck, it may have been there for a while, but Bill just subscribed to YT Music, and found it there...so that's a win.) 

This week, some memories fror OG Fort Myers... Back when a certain beachfront resort was the "in" place to go for weekend getaways and parties. How it survived the big hurricane last year (it did!) and how it's been rebuilt, restored and re-opened for business. 

That led BJ on a rabbit-hole run through some of his favorite stories of being on the road, back when he was doing standup comedy. Some of the nice - and not-so-nice hotels and motels he stayed in while on the road. Including one really scary story! 

Other quick bites: Congrats to the Florida Everblades hockey team (East Coast League) for their amazing three-peat of winning their ECL Championship! And a tip 'o the hat to Dick Van Dyke for winning a Daytime Emmy award at the young age of 98! Amazing!

Yes or no?? On this show, BJ and Bill dissucc the idea of "going live" with the show. OK, maybe not live and in-person (like back in radio days), but doing the show "live" as a video stream on platforms like YouTube and others. Would you watch? Gotta admit, sounds pretty scary... just a couple of old guys ranting about life. Anyway, stay tuned for details. 

Other show stuff: the boys talk about legendary actors and comedians from years gone by, after BJ watched a show featuring one of the all-time greats of early TV sitcoms, Dick van Dyke. That leads to talk of other OG's and some great favorite memories.

This week - an unexpected and fun phone call visit from "The Boss." For those that don't know, that's BJ's son Gentry, who runs the podcast network that this - and many other - fine podcasts appear on the interwebs. A few good father and son stories, and some other catching up in the podcast world. 

Also, the very important discussion of exactly how to best time our visit to your local Wal-Mart. Yes, it's important! For BJ, it's all about avoiding the tourist traffic with a store that's very close to Disney World. For Bill, it's all about avoiding the college-student traffic, with his store very near the University of Florida campus. 

As always, the boys catch up on sports, and some interesting stories that "almost" happened in auto racing (one of BJ's favorites). That, plus the usual fun and games of the show.

Another podcating milestone for the boys... Episode 90! Thanks for all your support. We're looking forward to some kind of party for the Big #100.

Speaking of milestones, BJ had a birthday in the past week. On the show, he talks about some life (and living) goals. Now he's aiming to live to be 75...but we know he's gonna be around for a lot longer than that! So of course the talk of living to "advanced" age led to more conversation about getting old, doctor visits, and upchucking in the car. Trust us, you've got to listen to find out the details for this one...

BJ stuns Bill with some football news: The Jacksonville Jaguars moving to Orlando? Well, turns out, no. But if the Jags do some major renovations (as planned) on the stadium in Jax, they're gonna need somewhere else to play during contruction. Turns out they're considering Camping World Stadium in Orlando... OR... the Florida Gators Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainvesville. NOW Bill was excited!

This week, the boys talk about BJ's latest doc appointment - so what else is new, right? But it does lead to a good discussion of how we either support ourselves - or hurt our health - with the food we eat (or dont' eat, of course).

BJ continues to work on keeping his health in good condition, and Bill continues to work on losing a few pounds (OK, more than a few!), and there are good stories all around.

The other big question of the week: How far would you go to see Taylor Swift in concert? Shes currently playing in Paris (as of this podcast date), and news is that lots of Americans are flying to France to see the show there. Seems it's actually cheaper to get tickets in Europe! Swifties, get your passports ready. 

A little bit more on sports, and some interesting ideas on doing the podcast "live and on location," just like a live radio show back in the day. 

Also, keep an ear out for a new podcast called "Gut Punched," It's not about fighting at all. It's about how friends and family members deal with the newfound knowledge of a loved one being diagnosed with dementia and / or Alzhiemers'. A friend of BJ's is starting a new podcast on that topic, and BJ was a guest on one of the first episodes. The show "Gut Punched" is also a part of The Podcast Playground network.

What a fun show! Yes, we say that a lot, but this one turned into something special. We hope and trust you'll agree. 

A bit of sports catch-up first, as always. BJ's Warriors have been out of the NBA Playoffs for some time (he's bummed), and Bill's Cavaliers beat the Orlando Magic in seven exciting first-round games (he's thrilled). Some NBA, some Kentucky Derby as well...

Which led to a lot of BJ and Bill history (separately, in their very early radio-career days). Talking about back-woods and small-town KY radio for both of them.

Then, the sad news: BJ was unable to get to talk to Peter Noone when the former Herman's Hermits star appeared live at Epcot Center / Disney World last week. As you know, the boys have been pretty much stalking Noone (not, we hope, in a creepy way) to try to get him on the podcast. Still, no luck. But, it's some funny stuff from BJ's afternoon at the show.

No surprise here... a lot of football Big Game talk, analysis and more this week! And yes, there's plenty of time left to get in both BJ and Bill's opinions about the "Swiftie" thing. Is that a thing? How much do sports broadcasts "check in" on girlfriends, wives, and other significant others? Is it important? The boys have differing opinions, and aren't afraid to share them. 

Second (non-football) half of the show: Thoughts about the comedy business. BJ used to be a standup comic (among other things), and he's had thoughts about getting back up on stage. With that in mind, the boys talk about an upcoming guest for the show, a former standup (and actor) himself. Who is it? Check out the show to find out. More guest appearances are coming! 

After losing a Super Bowl bet, it's now on Bill to buy lunch, and there's talk of how and where that will happen. BJ tries to convince Bill on the goodness of cauliflower "chicken" wings. Have you tried them? Yay or nay? Seems Bill will be finding out...
