Big Shot Bob – Ep 277 – The Best Credit Score in the League

Detroit put five years and $200 million in front of Jalen Duren. He said no. With camps opening next week and his qualifying offer deadline sitting on October 1st, Robert Horry, Rob Jenners and Brandon "Harp" Harper try to figure out what he's waiting for. He isn't 23 yet. Both Thompson twins just signed. And if he plays out the qualifying offer and hits free agency, the math says he could end up with less. Robert explains how he'd handle it: take the money, then load the deal with playoff incentives.

Before we get there, Robert talks about how he used to get ready for training camp (ramp down the weights, ramp up the conditioning), what happens when your son turns 21 and suddenly wants to go to Vegas, and why tequila in a plastic bottle is really just rubbing alcohol. Harp had exactly one tequila Jell-O shot at The Battery this weekend, and he wants everyone to know he said no to the second one. We also get into the Braves heading to the wild card and who we like in the MLB playoffs.

Then it's the East vs. West argument. Is the gap still real? The guys go through the Pistons, Knicks, Sixers, Hawks, Wizards and a Lakers team nobody can quite read yet, which is where this week's title came from. Lisa Leslie gets her statue outside Crypto, Robert says the one that's missing is Dr. Buss, and a conversation about who Atlanta would honor next goes sideways the second Michael Vick comes up. Nicolas Batum retires, and we run a quick predictions round: Kawhi's games played in Toronto, Duren's decision, Ja Morant in Portland, the Lakers ownership mess and the East's top seed.

College football: Rob and Robert are both 2-8 on the season, and Harp is sitting at 5-5 and letting everyone hear about it. This week's games are Texas at Tennessee, Oklahoma at Georgia, Ole Miss at Florida, Texas A&M at LSU and Oregon at USC, which is going to be a split household at Robert's place. Plus NC State's end-of-game disaster against Vanderbilt, a Big Shout of the Week for a Missouri teacher who ran barefoot over broken glass to pull his neighbor out of a house fire, and a full round of Walmart or Waffle House.
