3: Hours away from the fifth trial

Donna Adelson is accused of conspiring to kill her former son-in-law, Dan Markel. Her trial begins this week.

It's been 10 years since Dan Markel was shot point-blank in his own garage. Since his death, four people have been convicted and a fifth is set to go on trial soon. Prosecutors say Markel's ex-in-laws, the Adelsons, conspired to kill him. But his ex-wife's family says they're innocent. 

WCTV was at the crime scene the day Markel was shot. We have covered his case since the beginning. We have seen the fear that shot through Florida's capital city after his death.

Hit Close to Home is the story of Markel's murder, two families torn apart and a man whose life was tragically stolen.

Host Chasity Maynard was there when multiple alleged conspirators were convicted in court, and she'll be in court this year when Markel's ex-mother-in-law Donna Adelson goes on trial for his murder. She is the Head of Investigations at WCTV in Tallahassee, Fla., and she is also the station Digital News Content Manager.
