Homes across the interior are experiencing difficulties with cold temperatures and frozen pipes. This includes my parents, who had frozen pipes over the weekend caused by exposure to cold air in the garage where the boiler for their home is.

An Alaskan and U.S. Army veteran died while fighting for Ukraine in the war against Russia.

Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced Monday that Alaska’s application to the federal Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) was approved and that the state will receive approximately $272 million for Fiscal Year 2026.

Western Alaskans who had to leave their dogs behind after ex-Typhoon Halong devastated the region in October have until Monday to claim them or the animals will be spayed or neutered and made available for adoption, according to the State Veterinarian’s office.

The Blood Bank of Alaska is experiencing a drop in blood donations amid harsh weather conditions and the holiday season. According to the Blood Bank of Alaska, during the holiday season, donations tend to drop by 20 to 30%.
