Carolina Hurricanes and Jordan Staal at a contract impasse upcoming deal

Also, Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal expressed during exit interviews that he wanted to remain with the Carolina Hurricanes and wanted to finish his career in Raleigh. TSN Hockey insider Darren Dreger reported that contract conversations have hit a standstill. Staal is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st. Could we have seen Staal play his last season in Carolina this past year?
