Episode Description
The Culture State Podcast - celebrating those who put North Carolina on the sports & pop-culture map. Chris Lea of WRAL Sports and Dennis Cox of 99.9 The Fan are joined by Nina King of Duke University Athletics. King is currently the Senior Deputy Director of Athletics/Administration, Legal Affairs and Chief of Staff, but was also recently named as the future VP and Director of Athletics starting September 1, 2021 when current Director of Athletics Kevin White retires. King will be the first woman, and Black woman, to hold the position at Duke. Chris and Dennis talk about the significance of how women in North Carolina, or from North Carolina, continue to break barriers in the sports world, and how the landscape of college athletics is changing. King tells Chris about how she will likely be the person that will have to hire Coach K's replacement, and how she was part of the hiring committee that hired current Duke women's basketball head coach Kara Lawson.
