Seth Jarvis scored the game's first two goals, Jake Guentzel had a goal and two assists, and Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 29 shots as the Canes beat the Islanders 4-1. The win pulls Carolina within 2 points of the Rangers in the Metro. Brady Skjei had 2 assists. Martin Necas scored a power play goal with 1.1 seconds left in the first period that probably ended the competitive portion of the game. It was Necas 13th goal in 26 games since returning from injury.
