Seth Jarvis made his season debut, and scored one of the best goals you'll ever see, but the Canes fell to the Oilers, 6-5, in a shootout. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each had two goals and five assists in the win. Edmonton's power play was also 3 for 5 on the night. Thje Hurricanes also got goals from Jackson Blake, Logan Stankoven, Juuso Valimaki and Sebastian Aho -- who also added an assist. But, Aho's decision to gamble for a steal early in the 3rd period led to McDavid's first goal as the Oilers rallied from a 4-2 deficit to open the final period. It was the only poor play from Aho on an otherwise excellent performance. He won 12 of 19 face offs and is 43-22 in the circle over the last 3 games. Jarvis was denied in the shootout after Ryan Nugent-Hopkins gave Edmonton the lead in the 3rd round.
