Episode Description

Jordan Staal's 1st goal of the playoffs, 3 1/2 minutes into the 3rd period, tied the game and ignited a 4-goal outburst as the Canes beat the Rangers 4-1 to force a Game 6 back in Raleigh on Thursday. Three minutes later, Evgeny Kuznetsov pounced on a rebound and punched in the go-ahead goal and was followed about 3 1/2 minutes later by Jordan Martinook's wrister from the slot as Carolina went from a goal down to a 2-goal lead in 6:23. Martin Necas drilled one into the empty Rangers net for the final margin. Frederik Andersen made 20 saves in the win. Carolina was 0 for 3 on the power play - and for the second time in the last three games allowed a shorthanded goal. But, the penalty kill, after allowing the Rangers to score 4 times in their first 9 tries, went 3 for 3 tonight. They have now killed off the last 8 New York power plays.
