March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness month, dedicated to raising awareness about the inclusion and contributions of individuals with developmental disabilities across all aspects of life. During this time, we also acknowledge the ongoing work required to eliminate barriers to their full participation. A developmental disability is one that manifests before the age of 22. However, rather than solely focusing on disabilities and impairments, DDRC (Developmental Disabilities Resource Center) emphasizes building on individuals’ abilities. Their mission is to create opportunities for people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities, enabling them to fully engage in their communities.
