Episode Description

Unelected quasi-governmental agencies are racking up billions of dollars of debt, and more than half of these "public infrastructure districts" aren't complying with state transparency laws. As these communities take on more and more debt and raise taxes -- without voter approval and without being completely open about what they're doing – it's worrying Utah's State Auditor.

We've noticed this topic pop up in social media a lot over the last couple of weeks, so we wanted to do a deep-dive on these districts, how they work, how they use taxpayer money, and where transparency fits into the whole process. And if we're talking about transparency, the best person to talk with is Utah State Auditor Tina Cannon -- transparency is literally her job. She joins Greg and Holly in the studio to help break it down.
