Episode Description

Aaron Granillo hosts a special report on coronavirus in our community.

Hanna Scott joins the report to talk about the state and public health response. She's been closely following press conferences and recommendations from officials across Washington.

Then, Peter Rabinowitz, director of the University of Washington's Center for One Health Research, gives us a rundown on the virus. What are the symptoms? How is it spread? What is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your community?

Leo Flor discusses the impact on one of our most vulnerable populations: the homeless. What resources are available to keep everyone healthy and safe, even if they don't have housing? Flor directs the King County Department of Community and Human Services.

Then Chris Reykdal, the Washington State Superintendent, talks to us about school closures across the state.

And Dr. Michelle Reid, the Superintendent of the Northshore School District, discusses her decision to close Frank Love Elementary School on Monday and Bothell High School last week due to possible exposure. All schools in the district are closed on March 3rd for training on how teachers might be able to work remotely in the event of an extended quarantine.

And finally, Aaron Granillo and Heather Bosch wrap up the report with a look at the outbreak's status around the world.
