Mitt Romney gave his farewell speech in the Senate yesterday. He spoke about his gratitude for his time there and thanked other senators who he worked with. He also expressed his gratitude for being able to serve as Utah's Senator. Leah Murray and Taylor Morgan break down some of the decisions that Senator Romney had a part in. 

 

Pete Hegseth allegations could lead to a new nomination 

Yet another of president-elect Donald Trump's nominations is being met with more controversy. Pete Hegseth is being investigated for misconduct and sexual assault allegations. Trump is looking into other options for defense secretary. Trump's camp is treating this situation much differently than they did with the Matt Gaetz nomination. Leah Murray and Taylor Morgan take a look at how Trump is handling the situation and who he could pick. 

 

DOGE visits Capitol Hill 

The newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is set to meet with Congress today. It'll be a first look at how the two organizations are able to work together. It's going to be a test of the relationship to see if it can work. But there are hurdles and roadblocks that both sides are going to have to figure out. Leah Murray and Taylor Morgan break down how DOGE could function alongside Congress. 

 

GOP lawmakers look ahead to solve Amendment D issue 

Republican lawmakers in Utah are trying to figure out how to keep control over lawmaking in the state after Amendment D was removed from this year’s ballot. Legislators won't be able to make another push for Amendment D until 2026. Leah Murray and Taylor Morgan discuss how Utah Republicans are planning to solve the issue with Amendment D. 

 

Democrats are cleaning up their House 

The Democratic Party is trying to get younger as they look to remake and rebuild an aging party. Some of these moves involve younger delegates replacing older ones on various committees on Capitol Hill.
